Responsibilities * Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization. * Functions as a scrub person during operative and other invasive procedures by: * Assembling supplies and equipment required for the procedure; * Preparing and organizing sterile supplies and instruments for the procedure; * Performing accounting procedures in concert with the RN circulator; * Assisting with placement of sterile drapes; * Providing instruments, medications, and supplies to the surgical team during the procedure; * Maintaining an organized sterile field; * Ensuring sterility of the field and taking corrective actions as needed; and * Preparing sterile dressings. * Cleans and prepares surgical instruments for processing and transport them to the decontamination areas. * Assists with post procedure cleaning of the operative or other invasive procedure room and preparation of room for subsequent patients. * Participates in ongoing educational and competency verification activities applicable to scrub person activities. * Monitors and helps maintain adequate stock, supplies, and equipment for operating rooms and procedures. * Manages the patient's specimens according to organizational policy and procedures. * Performs interventions necessary to ensure that the patient's procedure is performed on the correct site, side, and level. * Maintains privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information. * Functions in the Endoscopic (GI) area by: * Accurately washing, disinfecting, and assembling scopes for procedures; * Assessing functionality of scope and reporting repair or replacement needs to supervisor; * Maintaining records of endoscope usage and repair logs; * Accurately identifying patient; * Accurately scheduling the patient and the procedure into the computer system; * Assisting with accurate handling of specimens; * Assisting physician with endoscopic and diagnostic procedures. * Performs work according to rules, regulations, policies and guidelines; complies with standards in the Code of Conduct. * Flexible to schedule; performs all other related duties as assigned or requested.
