Position Summary:
Assist in the nursing care and preparation of G.I. Lab/Endoscopy Center patients. Function as a member of the procedure team in issuing supplies and instruments to Endoscopists. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include; Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric age groups.
Detailed responsibilities:
* EQUIPMENT & SUPPLIES - Work with staff team to gather necessary supplies, equipment and instruments
* PREPARATION - Assist in preparing patient and procedure area; prepare and maintain endoscopy video cart, light source, supplies, endoscope, instillation pump and lab containers
* SPECIMENS - Assist in maintenance and care of specimens; prepare specimens for laboratory analysis
* ADMISSIONS - Assist with patient admission to Admitting and Recovery
* PATIENT TRANSPORT - Transport patients to and from requesting areas; ensure adherence to all safety measures

Our 25-bed critical access hospital allows our compassionate caregivers to provide excellent patient care in an environment that supports them in their professional growth and development with the latest technologies. Cibola General Hospital is one hour from Albuquerque and close to Santa Fe. Known for its mild year-round climate and outdoor activities, Grants NM offers low property taxes and inexpensive housing costs.
Cibola General Hospital provides services in general surgery, 24-hour Emergency care, Intensive Care, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics, Pathology, Pediatric Dentistry, Podiatry, Primary Care and Radiology with X-ray, CT, MRI. We have three operating rooms including a room for scopes. Clinics, Lab services, Pharmacy, Cardiopulmonary, and Rehab, and skilled care beds are provided.
Job Summary:
Assists the surgical team during basic operating procedures. Arranges and inventories sterile setup of operations, and passes items as needed to the operating team. Assists in the preparation and moving of patients, and in the cleanup of the operating theater. May prepare operative Specimens for analysis.
Reports To: Director, Surgical Services
Principal Responsibilities:
A. Performs OR duties using proper surgical aseptic techniques.
* Prepares the sterile field according to the doctors preference cards.
* Observes all rules of aseptic technique and immediately denotes any break in this system.
* Demonstrates proper method of surgical hand scrub, gowning, and gloving technique.
* Properly gowns and gloves other members of the surgical team.
* Assists in proper draping of the patient.
* Assists the surgeon during surgery by passing instruments and other equipment in a prescribed manner.
* Takes part in sponge, needle and instrument counts as needed, before, during and after the procedure to insure that no foreign material is left in the wound.
* Properly identifies and preserves specimens received during surgery.
* Makes sure patients skin is free of blood and other solutions before placing final dressing as directed by the surgeon.
* Protects drains and packings from dislodgement.
* Removes drapes in the prescribed manner.
* Disposes of sharps, needles and solutions in the prescribed manner.
* Disposes of trash/linen in the proper receptacles.
* Assists in the transfer of the patient to the stretcher.
* Washes instruments in preparation for sterilization.
* Uses universal precautions for all patients.
B. Functions While Not Scrubbed:
* Damps dusts furniture before first case of the day. Central Supply: Performs daily test (Bowie Dick Test) to test whether air is effectively being eliminated from the chamber of the pre-vacuum autoclaves.
* Opens sterile supplies before and during case.
* Can function as a circulator if two circulators are needed under the direct supervision of the RN.
* Uses the flash autoclave to process items that are dropped or other items needed for the case.
* Ties gowns of scrubbed personnel.
* Adjusts surgical lights.
Education/Licensure Requirements:
* Current certification in CPR.
* Must be able to assume on-call duty position with an outside timeframe of fifteen minutes from the hospital.
* Must be able to demonstrate a level of maturity commensurate with the demands of the operating room climate.
* Demonstrates the ability to withstand the increased level of stress imposed by the operating room environment.
* Completion of operating room technician course desired.
* Good interpersonal skills.
* Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist is desirable, but not required.

JOB SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Load and unload medical equipment, oxygen and supplies onto and off of delivery vehicles.
Deliver medical equipment to homecare patients; including, setting up the equipment, instructing patients on the basic use of the equipment and assisting patients in solving problems regarding equipment use. Will also pick up medical equipment.
Ensure patients do not suffer service failures by proactively communicating estimated arrival times with patients and/or family members.
Complete daily delivery logs, pick-up and delivery forms, reimbursement documents and vehicle maintenance logs via paper or electronic means (cell phone and/or iPad).
Perform routine vehicle maintenance and daily inspections including the checking of gasoline, oil fluids, tire pressure and brakes. Responsible for reporting any issues or malfunctions to leadership.
Respond to critical situations as appropriate, during regular business hours and on an on-call basis.
Comply with all applicable traffic laws and regulatory requirements; including, practicing safe driving habits and providing required documents needed for the Driver Qualification File.
Adhere to mandatory reporting requirements; physical abuse of any family member, unsafe home environment for care ordered, unsanitary conditions or animals causing such, or insufficient food for children.
May clean and assist with the repair of equipment.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Pulls, packs, delivers and picks up medications, supplies and basic equipment.
+ May instruct patients on basic use of respiratory therapy equipment, durable medical equipment, oxygen equipment, and other equipment/services approved by state licensure limitations.

Cibola General Hospital provides services in general surgery, 24-hour Emergency care, Intensive Care, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics, Pathology, Pediatric Dentistry, Podiatry, Primary Care and Radiology with X-ray, CT, MRI. We have three operating rooms including a room for scopes. Clinics, Lab services, Pharmacy, Cardiopulmonary, and Rehab, and skilled care beds are provided.
Job Summary:
Assists the surgical team during basic operating procedures. Arranges and inventories sterile setup of operations, and passes items as needed to the operating team. Assists in the preparation and moving of patients, and in the cleanup of the operating theater. May prepare operative Specimens for analysis.
Reports To: Director, Surgical Services
Principal Responsibilities:
A. Performs OR duties using proper surgical aseptic techniques.
Prepares the sterile field according to the doctor s preference cards.
Observes all rules of aseptic technique and immediately denotes any break in this system.
Demonstrates proper method of surgical hand scrub, gowning, and gloving technique.
Properly gowns and gloves other members of the surgical team.
Assists in proper draping of the patient.
Assists the surgeon during surgery by passing instruments and other equipment in a prescribed manner.
Takes part in sponge, needle and instrument counts as needed, before, during and after the procedure to insure that no foreign material is left in the wound.
Properly identifies and preserves specimens received during surgery.
Makes sure patient s skin is free of blood and other solutions before placing final dressing as directed by the surgeon.
Protects drains and packings from dislodgement.
Removes drapes in the prescribed manner.
Disposes of sharps, needles and solutions in the prescribed manner.
Disposes of trash/linen in the proper receptacles.
Assists in the transfer of the patient to the stretcher.
Washes instruments in preparation for sterilization.
Uses universal precautions for all patients.
B. Functions While Not Scrubbed:
Damps dusts furniture before first case of the day. Central Supply: Performs daily test (Bowie Dick Test) to test whether air is effectively being eliminated from the chamber of the pre-vacuum autoclaves.
Opens sterile supplies before and during case.
Can function as a circulator if two circulators are needed under the direct supervision of the RN.
Uses the flash autoclave to process items that are dropped or other items needed for the case.
Ties gowns of scrubbed personnel.
Adjusts surgical lights.
Education/Licensure Requirements:
Current certification in CPR.
Must be able to assume on-call duty position with an outside timeframe of fifteen minutes from the hospital.
Must be able to demonstrate a level of maturity commensurate with the demands of the operating room climate.
Demonstrates the ability to withstand the increased level of stress imposed by the operating room environment.
Completion of operating room technician course desired.

Centralized Sterilizing Technician
Sterile processing technician job in Silver City, NM
The Centralized Sterilizing Technician works collaboratively with the OR team members to provide for safe appropriate patient care within the limits of their scope of practice. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Receives, sterilizes, and distributes all reusable trays, packs, sets and equipment following policies and procedures of Surgical Services, consistent with current JCAHO standards and those of other regulatory bodies
* Displays a strong surgical conscience.
* Cleans and disinfects contaminated equipment and prepares instruments for sterilization following established protocols
* Inspects instruments and equipment for wear and tear. Reports any instruments needing repair. Ensures that only properly functioning instruments are processed.
* Utilizes established count sheets to ensure all instruments are in each designated set before autoclaving. Communicates anything that is missing following established protocols.
* Assures all equipment and supplies are ready and available for scheduled surgical procedures. Responds promptly for requests for supplies and equipment.
* Provides instrument sets to Surgical Services, Emergency Room, OB, Nursery, and other departments.
* Operates sterilizers, washers and autoclaves according to manufacturer's instructions and hospital policy and procedures. Reports mechanical failures. Maintains surveillance and documentation for all loads and machines.
* Assists throughout the department when needed to facilitate completion of surgical schedule.
* Assists with ordering and stocking supplies as needed.
* Practices safe work routine and reports safety and environmental hazards to appropriate person. Utilizes proper channels of communication.
* Adheres to dress code. Wears identification badge while on duty. Wears appropriate PPE
* Adheres to hospital infection control policies and OSHA and regulatory guidelines.
* Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to respond to hospital and departmental policy to fire drills, codes, etc.
* Attends 75% of departmental meetings.
* Participates in department quality assurance problem identification and resolution. Helps with development of standards and policies. Acts as a mentor for students and new caregivers.
* Completes annual education requirements.
* Reports on and off duty as scheduled. Takes call as assigned.
Requirements
EDUCATION & TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
* High School graduate or GED
* BLS Certification within 3 months from hire
* Central Sterile Certification desired
* Must have sufficient education and/or experience to understand and carry out sterilization and follow principles of aseptic technique.
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
* One year previous sterile processing or hospital related experience preferred.

The Albuquerque Ambulatory Eye Surgery Center is a joint venture out-patient ophthalmology surgery center designed to provide quality care to the community.
The Sterile Processing Technician performs duties of decontamination, preparation, assembly, high level disinfection, sterilization of surgical instruments and medical equipment for the AAESC, utilizing infection control and safety practices during all phases of the process. Under direct and indirect supervision follows departmental policies and procedures. Inventories, restocks and distributes instruments to the operating rooms.
Job Duties May Include
:
Cleans, decontaminates, disinfects and sterilizes surgical instruments, trays and reusable medical devices. Inspection, maintenance, assembly and sterilization of surgical instruments.
Handling, storage and transportation of surgical instruments to the operating room.
Monitor and maintain standards of disinfection and sterilization as recommended by prevailing regulatory and professional organization recommendations or guidelines.
Prioritize tasks as directed by the supervisor or as needed to support patient care for the surgery center.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in accordance with standards and policies.
Operates all required equipment and machinery accurately and safely according to parameters of sterilization in accordance with The Department of Health, CMS, OSHA, CDC, AAMI, and AORN standards.
Maintains appropriate records, and monitors quality control and infection control standards, provides asset management and support of surgical instruments and trays belonging to or consigned to the facility.
Accurately handles and cares for instruments appropriately, including appropriate selection of cleaning agents, lubricants, examination for function, identification and assembly and preparation for sterilization.
Responsible for reporting damaged or malfunctioning equipment to the Manager and follows process for replacement.
Correctly peel-packs supplies and instruments, wraps instruments for sterilization, inspects each instrument for use, function, completeness and cleanliness.
Coordinates with Materials Department to ensure facility sets are stocked to PAR levels.
Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory and continuing education and skills competency. Supports department - based goals which contribute to the success of the organization. Communicates with operating room staff to provide required instruments.
Maintains records for QA and sterilization.
Employees are expected to comply with all regulatory requirements, including CMS standards.
Is familiar with organization, department and job specific Environment of Care areas, including Life Safety, Hazardous Materials Communications, Emergency Preparedness, Infection Control and Medical Equipment Failure.
Adheres to Standard Precautions as appropriate, which may include: use of protective barriers, as appropriate (e.g., gloves, masks, gowns, pocket masks, and/or safety glasses); handling and disposing of infectious waste appropriately; and hand washing as appropriate.
Maintains flexibility to rotate shifts and adjust hours as needed. Maintains a work record of regular attendance, timely arrivals and departures.
Knows fire and safety procedures for work area.
Maintains professional appearance appropriate to position and function. Wears identification badge while on duty.

Skills/Qualifications:
High school or equivalent.
One-year experience in sterile processing environment, hospital or clinic (medical or veterinary) preferred. Previous experience with handling of sterile supplies preferred.
National certification for sterile processing preferred.
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required (training provided and paid for by company).
Working Environment and Physical Requirements: Physical working environment may include, but not limited to, any of the following hazards: high pressure steam, chemical, electrical, mechanical, bio-waste, stress, back strain, body fluids, etc. Environmental conditions may include, but not be limited to, variations in temperature, noise, odors, multi-stimuli, etc. Pressure from high volume census to meet deadlines to obtain adequate instrumentation from vendors. Extensive people contact and interruptions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to constantly stand and walk. The employee frequently is required to stoop, crouch and twist. The employee is occasionally required to kneel, squat and sit.
