The SterileProcessing Tech is responsible for the decontamination, preparation, sterilization, documentation, and distribution of surgical instrumentation and supplies used in the operating room. This position may also perform the duties of stocking supplies in pre and post-op areas.
This position is eligible for a $1,625 Sign On Bonus (amount pro-rated based on assigned FTE).
This is a part-time, 0.625 FTE opportunity that will be based at our Plymouth Surgery Center. Flexibility to float to other surgery centers as needed.
Schedule (10 hour shifts)
* Week 1: Tuesday, Friday
* Week 2: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday
Nationally recognized SterileProcessing certification highly desired upon hire or must be obtained within 90 days of successful completion of educational/training program.
* Decontaminates and sterilizes instruments, medical supplies and equipment; inspects, assembles, wraps and sterilizes trays of instruments.
* Monitors biological and chemical wash solution to ensure quality and consistency for decontamination of instruments and medical equipment.
* Sorts mismatched sets of instruments, trays and medical equipment and makes them available to sterileprocessing customers in a timely manner.
* Restocks, labels, and maintains inventory; submit requisitions; collects and distributes instruments, trays, crash carts, and facility medical equipment.
* Performs environmental maintenance duties and assists in maintaining inventory levels in sterileprocessing, the operating room, and in equipment storage areas.
* Verifies that equipment functions properly: completes requisitions for repair or replacement of surgical instrumentation; removes defective instrumentation from general service.
* Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
* Disposes of filled suction and trash containers.
* Documents all steps of the sterilizationprocess accurately and legibly; maintains sterilization logs and organizes evidence of sterilizationprocesses.
* Assists with maintaining established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, and quality improvement, safety, and environmental and infection control standards.
* Acts as staff resource in matters related to sterileprocessing.
Summit's hiring range for this position is $22.70 to $28.38 per hour. The hired candidate may be eligible to receive additional compensation in the form of bonuses, differentials and/or deferred compensation. The SterileProcessing Tech (SPD) Responsible and accountable for all functions of the sterileprocessing department, under the guidance of the sterileprocessing department supervisors and manager.
This position is responsible for working independently and with team members to ensure that all surgical instrumentation are properly decontaminated, assembled, inspected, packaged, sterilized, and/or high level disinfected. All instruments must be distributed, tracked and stored in a safe, secure, aseptic and timely manner throughout the surgery center and clinics. Immediate-use steam sterilization, tray turnovers between surgical cases and releasing sterilized loads from the department must be performed observing standard practice. In specific locations, the role will also be responsible for surgical case cart assembly and delivery. Required Qualifications:
Word Processing knowledge, typing, data entry, strong communication skills - verbal and written.
Certification Requirement: The candidate will present current certification from either CBSPD: C.S.P.D.T. or HSPA (formerly known as IAHCSMM): C.R.C.S.T. or 24 months from the date of hire.
This certification must be maintained for the duration of employment.
Park Nicollet team members who have been employed for 10 consecutive years prior to 2015 with no lapse in employment as Instrument Room Aide/SterileProcessing Department Technician (9AT) and/or Lead SterileProcessingTechnician (116-030) will not be required to obtain certification.

Compensation:
$18 - $22 hourly
Responsibilities:
Clean, sterilize, and disinfect dental instruments and equipment following OSHA, CDC, and clinic protocols.
Prepare and maintain sterilization logs to ensure proper documentation and compliance with infection control standards.
Set up and restock operatories with sterile instruments, trays, and supplies for dental procedures.
Inspect instruments for damage or wear and report any concerns to the clinical team.
Operate autoclaves and other sterilization equipment according to manufacturer and safety guidelines.
Maintain a clean and organized sterilization area, ensuring all surfaces are disinfected and supplies are properly stored.
Monitor inventory levels of sterile supplies and communicate needs for reordering or restocking.
Follow all safety protocols to protect patients and staff from cross-contamination or infection.
Assist clinical staff as needed with chairside setup, breakdown, and cleaning between patients.
Support compliance efforts related to OSHA, HIPAA, and internal infection control policies.
Qualifications:
Experience working with children.
Currently enrolled in dental assisting school or have experience working as an unlicensed assistant.
Computer Skills.
Superb communication skills.

This position plays an important role in ensuring dental instruments are not only available to students as needed, but also are clean and sterile up to health industry standards. include, but are not limited to: * Checking out instrument kits, individual instruments, sundries, etc. to students at the beginning of each clinic session, utilizing the School's electronic records system (axi Um).
* Checking out items to students as requested during clinic sessions.
* Maintaining organization of the dispensary.
* Replenishing stock, rotating for expiration dates as necessary.
* Documenting items needed for restocking.
* Checking returned items for completeness, cleanliness, and breakage.
* Processing items for sterilizationprocessing, including the processing/oiling of hand pieces and replenishment of bur blocks/kits.
* Performing daily, weekly, and quarterly preventive maintenance on instruments and handpieces.
* Recommending replacement of unserviceable items to area leadership.
* Operating sterilizers and washers to ensure proper cycle progression; performing tests to assure proper operation.
Note: Work hours are Monday through Friday (with occasional weekends). Hours may vary and change depending on the needs of the department.

* Ability to stand on feet for the entire work shift, lift 40 pounds chest high, bend and stoop repeatedly in the handling of materials and use a ladder to reach supplies on upper shelves.
* Regular and reliable attendance.

Schedule (10 hour shifts)
Week 1: Tuesday, Friday
Week 2: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday
Nationally recognized SterileProcessing certification highly desired upon hire or must be obtained within 90 days of successful completion of educational/training program.
Decontaminates and sterilizes instruments, medical supplies and equipment; inspects, assembles, wraps and sterilizes trays of instruments.
Monitors biological and chemical wash solution to ensure quality and consistency for decontamination of instruments and medical equipment.
Sorts mismatched sets of instruments, trays and medical equipment and makes them available to sterileprocessing customers in a timely manner.
Restocks, labels, and maintains inventory; submit requisitions; collects and distributes instruments, trays, crash carts, and facility medical equipment.
Performs environmental maintenance duties and assists in maintaining inventory levels in sterileprocessing, the operating room, and in equipment storage areas.
Verifies that equipment functions properly: completes requisitions for repair or replacement of surgical instrumentation; removes defective instrumentation from general service.
Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
Disposes of filled suction and trash containers.
Documents all steps of the sterilizationprocess accurately and legibly; maintains sterilization logs and organizes evidence of sterilizationprocesses.
Assists with maintaining established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, and quality improvement, safety, and environmental and infection control standards.
Acts as staff resource in matters related to sterileprocessing.
Summit's hiring range for this position is $22.70 to $28.38 per hour. We are looking for team members to support our growing services, with opportunities to provide patient care in our Surgery Center(s). We have a fast-paced multi-specialty Surgical Center. Our team is looking for candidates with a positive outlook and ability to work well on a team.
The SterileProcessing Tech (SPD) Responsible and accountable for all functions of the sterileprocessing department, under the guidance of the sterileprocessing department supervisors and manager.
This position is responsible for working independently and with team members to ensure that all surgical instrumentation are properly decontaminated, assembled, inspected, packaged, sterilized, and/or high level disinfected. All instruments must be distributed, tracked and stored in a safe, secure, aseptic and timely manner throughout the surgery center and clinics. Immediate-use steam sterilization, tray turnovers between surgical cases and releasing sterilized loads from the department must be performed observing standard practice. In specific locations, the role will also be responsible for surgical case cart assembly and delivery. Each team member will be qualified to train others as assigned and serve as a front-line resource to sterileprocessing customers.

Department Overview
The SterileProcessing Department at Children's Hospitals and Clinics in Minneapolis performs multiple functions that can be grouped under the following headings: decontamination; instruments and tray assembly; Preparation, Packaging, and Sterilization; Case Carts Assembly; Ad Hoc Dispensing of Patient Care Supplies; and Equipment Reprocessing, Tracking, and Dispensing.
Position Summary
Incumbent performs tasks associated with the reprocessing of reusable instruments, supplies, and equipment. Performs inventory management tasks involving reprocessed and single use equipment and supplies to all departments. The SterileProcessingTechnician is thoroughly versed in surgical instrumentation. Supports the mission of Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota in the care and treatment of patients following established customer service, family centered care, resource utilization and infection control standards.
* One year Central/SterileProcessing experience and/or experience in medical device reprocessing role or similar experience in an operating room.
* Graduate of Central/SterileProcessing Technical College Program and/or certification in sterileprocessing preferred.
* Requires sufficient familiarity with surgical instruments to be able to assemble surgical trays.
* Inventory management experience preferred.

This is a full-time position working out of our Blaine Orthopedic Surgery Center. No weekends, holidays or evening. Rotating start time.

Essential Functions:
Demonstrates knowledge of processes, procedures, quality assurance, chemicals and medical instruments sufficient to be able to decontaminate, assemble, wrap, and sterilize equipment, supplies, and instruments.
Demonstrates knowledge of equipment function sufficient to be able to determine operational adequacy and to distinguish between operator error and equipment malfunction.
