Schedule: 3pm-11:30pm Is knowledgeable of the roles and job responsibilities of Sterile Processing Technicians Levels I & II and may perform any of these tasks as needed to assist with operations within the department. Key Responsibilities:
Receives, sorts, cleans, and decontaminates reusable instruments and equipment according to manufacturer guidelines; logs received items manually.
Operates cleaning and decontamination machinery including washers, reprocessors, cart washers, and pasteurizers.
Inspects, assembles, and sterilizes surgical instruments and materials; prepares trays per standardized lists and operates sterilizers monitoring critical settings.
May lead department operations in the absence of the SPD Manager by organizing workflow, prioritizing tasks, and addressing customer needs.
Maintains up-to-date knowledge on medical instrument processing through education, professional organizations, and participates in hospital committees.
Assists with staff training, competency testing, and may serve as charge person to manage department workflow and safety.
Communicates and collaborates with department staff, OR personnel, and managers to ensure smooth operations and complete accurate documentation.
Troubleshoots daily operational problems and uses resources to support decision-making and problem resolution.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma/GED required
Experience:
Minimum of three years of experience in Sterile Processing required
Licensure/ Certifications:
Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) required
Candidates are required to have the Certified Endoscopy Reprocessor (CER) certification at the time of hire, or they must obtain it within one year of being hired.

10. Transports items to sterilization as needed.
11. Interprets package labeling to select appropriate sterilization method and approved cycle, options include Steam, Hydrogen Peroxide Plasma, or others as required.
12. Inspects packages to ensure all external indicators, filters, and/or labels are securely affixed to items, returns non-satisfactory products to instrument room.
13. Loads sterilizer as appropriate to ensure cycle completion; includes biological testing as appropriate. Performs routine sterilizer testing and maintenance including biological monitoring, leak test, bowie dick test, and daily/weekly sterilizer maintenance as appropriate.
14. Utilizes patient specific pick lists to accurately gather surgical instruments and disposable supplies requested by attending surgeon or another Peri-Operative representative.
15. Documents case cart build process in instrument tracking software, continuously updating the record as items are fulfilled to maintain integrity of needs list.
16. Inspects items during the pick process to ensure package integrity remains intact, package is within expiration date, and substitutions are appropriate.
17. Communicates unmet surgical supply requests to leadership for resolution assistance.
18. Returns supplies not used after surgical procedures to their proper stock location.
19. Wears personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and at all times.
20. Maintains cleans work area by wiping area with antibacterial agent upon work completion or as needed.
21. Documents arrival and cleaning process utilizing asset tracking software.
22. Interprets and appropriately documents results of sterilizer testing.
23. Escalates positive results as appropriate for intervention.

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Sterile Processing Technician to join our growing healthcare team. This role is vital to patient safety and ensures all surgical and procedural instruments are processed, sterilized, and ready for clinical use. The ideal candidate is a team-oriented professional with strong attention to detail who takes pride in supporting high-quality patient care.
Position Summary:
This role performs a wide range of sterile processing tasks, including decontamination, assembly, sterilization, documentation, and workflow coordination. The Sterile Processing Technician may assist in leading department operations when needed and serves as a knowledgeable resource to peers.
Key Responsibilities:
Receive, sort, clean, and decontaminate reusable medical instruments and equipment following manufacturer and industry standards
Operate decontamination and sterilization equipment including washers, disinfectors, and sterilizers
Inspect and assemble instrument sets, prepare surgical trays, and maintain accuracy based on standard guidelines
Monitor sterilization cycles and document results according to regulatory and department requirements
Assist in staff training, education, and competency development
Communicate effectively with perioperative teams and other clinical departments to support efficient workflow
Support troubleshooting and problem resolution to ensure daily operational success
Maintain current knowledge and best practices in instrument processing, safety, and compliance
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED required
At least 3 years of sterile processing experience required
Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) required
Certified Endoscopy Reprocessor (CER) required at hire or must be obtained within 1 year
Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) preferred
