The Technician, under minimal supervision, is responsible for transporting, decontamination, cleaning processing, storage and distribution, and sterilization of instruments, supplies equipment dispensed by the department following infection control practices. Must be conscientious with regard to procedures and capable of working under pressure and interacting professionally with other departments within the hospital. Qualifications Education/Training/Experience Minimum of 6 months experience as Sterile Processing Department Technician preferred. Loads the autoclave machine using the correct load configuration based on instrument types. 4. Verifies the autoclave is running appropriately for specified cycle. If the autoclave cycle fails or aborts, the SPT is responsible for communication to management for guidance on corrective action for the machine. 5. Documents all activities associated with the use of the autoclave for sterilization procedures as outlined in OneLegacy P&Ps. 6. Communicates with management for inventory stock replenishment. Quality Control Release: 1. Safely removes instruments from autoclave and places instruments to quarantine hold. 2. Documents instruments undergoing biological indicator quarantine hold. 3.
