The Central Supply Technician is responsible for the cleaning, processing, and sterilization of surgical instrumentation, patient care equipment and re-useable medical/surgical items. This position also functions as a Case Cart Attendant for the Operating Room. Essential Generic Job Functions (List in order of importance): 1. Receives, sorts, processes, assembles or sterilizes both patient care equipment and surgical instruments according to established departmental policies. 2. Understands all detergents and disinfectants used to process items. Implements both Universal Precautions and proper use of P.P.E. 3. Operates and loads sterilizers (Steam, ETO, Sterrad and Steris) and assures biological tests and Bowie Dick tests are correctly performed, incubated, read and recorded. 4. Under the direct supervision of the SVP of Dental Services, the Sterilization Technician supports daily operations of all activities that relate to the reprocessing of reusable medical supplies and instrumentation including decontamination, cleaning, assembly, wrapping, sterilization, and storage processes within all set professional standards and regulations and following strict infection control guidelines. The Sterilization Technician will assist the site staff in performing sterilization, equipment maintenance and inventory as needed.
