Full-time Description
Faculty members are responsible for the delivery of quality education services. This entails engaging students, fostering learning, role modeling professionalism, and ultimately producing competently trained students prepared for professional careers. The Sterile Processing Technician Instructor will provide up to date and fully prepared instruction to Sterile Processing Technician students in an energetically and motivating instructional manner along with engaging in activities in student retention and manages the classroom/lab activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare course plans and materials:
Delivering course lectures.
Facilitating student engagement.
Working one-on-one with students.
Assessing students and providing developmental feedback.
Deliver courses:
Deliver lectures/facilitate labs via on ground or online.
Grade projects and exams.
Provide progress reports/mid-term feedback.
Maintain grade book.
Enforce HCI policies (attendance, dress code, etc.).
Monitor progress and attendance:
Direct and assess student progress in achieving theory (content: cognitive) and performance (competencies: psychomotor and affective) requirement of the program.
Monitor student progress and follow-up as needed.
Take and report daily attendance and enforce tardy and absence policies.
Report attendance issues to the Program Director.
Advise students:
Answer student questions.
Be available for one-on-one assistance/tutoring.
Identify at-risk students in a timely fashion:
Implement an action plan for success.
Provide weekly assessments, follow up, and evaluation of the plan.
Provide Weekly Feedback Report.
Record grades and submit reports:
Maintain grade books.
Adhere to departmental grading policies.
Submit final grades.
Monitor equipment and supply needs.
Maintain classroom.
Seek out an approved substitute in case of faculty member's need for absence.
Participate in orientation as needed.
Attend graduation ceremonies
(full-time faculty required and part-time requested).
Work on retention plans and program development.
Attend staff and faculty meetings

Participate in committees and knowledge sharing forums

Ensure the proper use of software (Course Key for attendance records, Campus Nexus for communication and contact attempts with students, Moodle for gradebook purposes.)
Maintain any relevant licensures, certifications, and other required maintenance of paperwork for personnel file.
Maintain a minimum of eight (8) hours of Continuing Education Units (CEU's) annually by participating in professional development and in-services (i.e., continuing education, professional activities, conference presentations, scholarly publications, etc.).
Encourage students to submit course evaluations, review course evaluations when available, and use feedback to improve course delivery.
Regular and reliable attendance.
Comply with all governmental regulations and standards of accreditation.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Workload Expectations:
Workload is dependent upon the faculty classification.
Faculty will start and end on time for assigned courses and lab hours.
Faculty must obtain prior approval from the Program Director if their assignment will require overtime.
Must be able to teach either face-to-face or online with students in any of the following areas, as driven by cohort needs:
Didactic/classroom instruction
Lab/Simulation/Active Learning experiences
Full-Time Faculty are required to:

Education/Experience:
Associate's degree with a major in any area of health sciences from an accredited college or university or equivalent (Preferred)

Current and active certification in Sterile Processing (CRCST) (Preferred)

**Responsibilities**
Responsible for performing delegated activities to support the operating room team in the care of the surgical patient as well as procedural areas within the hospital. Duties are performed under the supervision of the Central Service Team Leaders and Central Service Supervisor and in collaboration with the operating room team.
Responsibilities include:
- Decontamination, assembly, inspection, packaging, sterilization, storage and distribution of reusable instruments and equipment for surgical and other procedures.

What the Sterile Processing Technician will do:
Operates all required equipment and machinery accurately and safely, prepares, assembles, and sterilizes instruments and supplies according to parameters of sterilization in accordance with The Department of Health, TJC, OSHA, CDC, AAMI and AORN standards. Maintains appropriate records, and monitors quality control and infection control standards. Provides asset management and support of surgical instruments and trays belonging to or consigned to the facility.
Accurately handles and cares for instruments appropriately, including appropriate selection of cleaning agents, lubricants, examination for function, identification and assembly and preparation for sterilization; retrieves malfunctioning instruments and ensures repairs are completed.
Correctly peel-packs supplies/instruments, wraps instruments for sterilization, inspect each instrument for use, function, completeness and cleanliness.
Coordinates with Materials Dept to ensure facility sets are stocked to PAR levels.
Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all TOC Surgery Center policies, procedures and standards and quality of service.
Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; Communicate with operating room staff to provide required instruments.
Is responsible for reporting damaged or malfunctioning equipment to Nurse Administrator and Materials Manger and follow process for replacement.
Resources to nursing staff in all departments regarding responsibilities of proper sterilization techniques.
Clean, set up, sterilize and distribute instruments as scheduled on each shift.
Maintains records for QA and sterilization.
Qualifications:
Valid CRCST or CSPDT certification
Knowledge of equipment function sufficient to be able to determine operational adequacy and to distinguish between operator error and equipment malfunction.
Knowledge of applicable sanitary, infection control, and safety standards sufficient to be able to perform all assignments within safety parameters.
Knowledge of processes, procedures, quality assurance, chemicals and medical instruments sufficient to be able to decontaminate and sterilize equipment, supplies and instruments.
Ability to lift and move trays of instruments and patient care equipment, i.e., IV pumps, monitors, up to 25 lbs.
Ability to perform bending, lifting, and washing using decontamination processes, which will include instrument pans, bins, trays, and carts of various sizes. Tactile differentiation, e.g. temperature, moisture.
Skill and prior experience in cleaning specialized equipment.

Minimum Requirements
High school graduate or a GED. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license at the time of hire. The preferred candidate, having met the minimum requirements, will have at least one (1) year of experience in the management of issuing supplies, maintaining inventory, stock control, cleaning or janitorial services or basic mechanical knowledge.

The Dental Sterilization Technician is responsible for increasing the efficiency of the dental team by cleaning, disinfecting and sterilizing dental equipment for use during dental procedures to ensure patients and staff are not exposed to germs from unsterile equipment. This position is also responsible for cleaning and preparing treatment rooms for use between patients and at end of day. This position reports to the Center Manager and has no supervisory responsibilities.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Cleaning, disinfecting and sterilizing dental instruments according to procedures
Following manufacturers' instructions for maintaining sterilization equipment properly
Recording/documenting information, such as maintenance and sterilization processes and notes
Cleaning/disinfecting treatment rooms between patients
Transporting dirty dental instruments to the dedicated sterilization area
Tracking and ordering sterilization supplies
Adhering to standard protocols for infection control
Wearing personal protective equipment when required
Performing other routine office functions when required.
