Uses knowledge and skills to apply biological indicators in the sterilization process, adhering to quality control requirements. Identifies, wraps, and labels items accurately for steam, Sterrad, and gas sterilization. Pulls case carts for surgical procedures and completes missing item slips for carts that are incomplete. Restocks supplies in the instrument, decontamination area, sterilization processing area, and case cart area according to checklist or par levels. Communicates optimally with employees, patients, and visitors. Educate new employees in Sterile Processing. Responds to emergencies by notifying the appropriate person and taking direction from the appropriate person. Compliance with mandatory education requirements and mandatory tests by the time given. Maintains an attitude of dedication, courtesy, and collaboration toward others. Ensures that par levels are met for sterile storage and the OR sterile instrument areas. The Sterile Processing Technician certified works independently to clean, decontaminate and assemble all reusable instrumentation and patient care equipment. This position require and prepares equipment/instruments for sterilization and operates cleaning and sterilizing equipment according to established departmental procedures. The Technician prepares and monitors sterilized instruments and pulls supplies for the Operating Room case cart system. This position assists in maintaining accurate inventories of supplies, replenishes and maintains stock levels for the Surgical Case cart Room. This position performs periodic physical inventories as directed and maintains a clean and safe workplace. This position completes all other duties as assigned by Lead Technician/Supervisor or Manager. The Position is a flexible position that often requires various shift coverage as and when staff needed. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION: High school Diploma or GED; preferred college associate degree.
