Examine and test instruments meticulously to ensure proper integrity, function and cleanliness prior to being sterilized or High Level disinfected.
Ensures verification of pre and post sterilization quality indicators.
Reports any issues or problems with the sterilization equipment to appropriate SPD leadership.
Uses Instrument Tracking System in the decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and storage of surgical trays and peel-pouched items to maintain inventory levels and accurate documentation.
Accurately labels each item with name and/or expiration date.
Routinely checks for outdates and package integrity of sterilized items; replaces/reports as necessary.
May be responsible for maintaining, assembling and distributing of other durable medical equipment including but not limited to code carts based on campus requirements.
May be responsible for equipment rounds based on campus requirements.
Responsible for off shift and holiday call coverage based on campus requirements.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Participates in the onboarding process of new team members as appropriate per campus.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduate of certified sterile processing technician training program. SPD EXEMPTION - Requirement shall not apply to an individual working within PA facilities who has been employed as a central services technician on or before the effective date of PA Act 80 effective 12/29/2020.
New hires within New Jersey and Pennsylvania facilities must obtain Certification from a certified sterile processing technician program within 18 months of date of hire.
AND
Experience: Minimum 6 months experience preferred.
