Performs duties necessary for the provision of in-house reprocessing sterile supplied and equipment for the care and safety of the patient. Schedule: 0.8FTE- 1.0FTE Mon- Fri Mid-Shift 12:00pm- 8:30pm Compensation: $23.82/hr + DOE (non-certified) $25.25/hr+ DOE (Certified) Robust Benefits Package ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Sound understanding of the basic principles of sterilization, including operation of steam and cold sterilizers, utilization of aseptic technique, appropriate care of sterile items, chemical and biological monitoring and adequate record keeping. Familiar with the contents and location of all sterile trays and packs through the hospital and responsible for the re-assembly, re-sterilization, and replacement of them after use. Maintains an adequate inventory of disposable supplies in the Operating Room, Endoscopy, PACU, and CSR with current Location File for items located in CSR for after-hours use. Cleans, maintains, and prepares for re-use sterile and non-sterile instruments and equipment used in the Operating Room and throughout the hospital and reports failure, malfunction, or need for repair to the appropriate person. Actively participates in Performance Improvement. Accepts accountability for own actions. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform environmental sanitation procedures as set by policy. Assists in the preparation and clean-up of the Operating Rooms before, during and after surgical procedures. Maintains current knowledge of procedures, techniques Ensures individual skills are current. Assists in the efficient operation of the Operating Room schedule and procedures under the supervision of the Operating Room nurse. Participates in Quality Assurance. Assists in the orientation of new employees. QUALIFICATIONS (Required): High school graduate or equivalent Previous CSR experience preferred Demonstrates proficiency in care of Operating Room equipment, supplies, and aseptic techniques. Serves as a resource to sterile processing customers, both on Main Campus and in the Region. Must be able to correctly identify a multitude of different instruments and how to properly process them * Sterilization/High Level Disinfection (HLD): Selects appropriate sterilization or high-level disinfection methods.Identifies and follows correct principles of sterilization/HLD. Properly documents and verifies sterilization loads and biological tests to determine the efficacy of the sterilization process. Must be able to understand the advantages and limitations of each sterilization method andbe able to demonstrate competency in using all equipment used for sterilization and HLD. Correctly identifies when and how to safely use different sterilization/HLD methods available. * Understands and utilizes established principles and procedures that are required to insure that the sterilization process will be effective, as defined by regulatory agencies.
