Function/Duties of Position

About the Opportunity:
At Kootenai Health, our Sterile Processing Technicians are essential to ensuring surgical precision and patient well-being. In this fast-paced, detail-oriented role, you'll be responsible for disinfecting, sterilizing, and preparing surgical instruments and medical equipment for safe use. Your expertise in specialized tools and advanced sterilization techniques will keep procedures running seamlessly.
Sterile Processing Tech II Requirements and Minimum Qualifications:
* High school diploma or equivalent required
* Central Service Certification (CRCST) through the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) or equivalent certification required
* 1 year experience in an acute or ambulatory Sterile Processing department/setting required
* Preceptor training completed within 6 months and current on annual preceptor modules required
* Familiar with AAMI & AORN recommended Practices and Standards and other industry standards and best practices required
* Has knowledge of and can use current instrument tracking system to update set lists, upload pictures, and create/add new sets as needed
* Has knowledge and utilization of department standards and processes to include AAMI/ANSI, AORN, and HSPA standards and best practices
* Deciphers and understands medical terminology as it relates to Sterile Processing functions
* Has understanding of cause and spread of infectious diseases as they relate to Sterile Processing functions

This position will assist in the management of the dental office infection control plan to meet OSHA and CDC standards. Handles instrument cleaning, sterilization/disinfection and re-circulation. Performs dental treatment room disinfection.
Clinic hours Monday-Thursday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Sterilizes and delivers instruments to treatment areas; positions instruments for dentist's access; suctions; passes instruments
Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
Adheres to infection-control policies and protocols
Ensures operation of dental equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; follows manufacturer's instructions; calls for repairs when necessary
Maintains dental supplies inventory; places orders for supplies; verifies receipt of supplies
Conserves dental resources by using equipment and supplies as needed
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications
Contributes to team effort
