Qualifications

The Central Supply Technician is responsible for the cleaning, processing, and sterilization of surgical instrumentation, patient care equipment and re-useable medical/surgical items. This position also functions as a Case Cart Attendant for the Operating Room. Essential Generic Job Functions (List in order of importance): 1. Receives, sorts, processes, assembles or sterilizes both patient care equipment and surgical instruments according to established departmental policies. 2. Understands all detergents and disinfectants used to process items. Implements both Universal Precautions and proper use of P.P.E. 3. Performs all functions in full compliance with the center's Infection Control Plan and policies including but not limited to the Sterilization Policy and the use of Personal Protective Equipment and Universal Precautions policy
Performs all functions related to decontamination, disinfection and sterilization of all instruments, equipment, and clinical areas in the dental and medical services, including monitoring of processes
Ensures the sterility of all reusable sterilizable instruments and equipment in accordance with directives and protocols, following AAMI Guidelines and other standards

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
Performs all functions in full compliance with the center's Infection Control Plan and policies including but not limited to the Sterilization Policy and the use of Personal Protective Equipment and Universal Precautions policy
Performs all functions related to decontamination, disinfection and sterilization of all instruments, equipment, and clinical areas in the dental and medical services, including monitoring of processes
Ensures the sterility of all reusable sterilizable instruments and equipment in accordance with directives and protocols, following AAMI Guidelines and other standards
Periodically reviews standards and guidelines to ensure compliance and to address changes
Operates and maintains equipment in the sterilization area and lab according to manufacturer's recommendations
Instruct and oversee site operation and maintenance procedures of equipment in sterilization areas
Insures the proper handling of all contaminated or potentially contaminated materials in accordance with Zufall health center policies as well as state and federal regulation(s)
Maintains all areas involved in disinfection and sterilization in compliance with regulatory directives and protocols as well as center policies and procedures relative to infection control, exposure control and safety issues
Reviews QA and monitoring activities related to disinfection and sterilization processes

Sterile Processing Tech at Shore Outpatient Surgicenter
The Sterile Processing Technician maintains and cares for all surgical instruments. Prepares supplies and instruments for surgery cases.
Qualifications
* High School Diploma or Equivalent
* Minimum of 1-2 years of Sterile Processing experience
* Completion of a Sterile Process Certification program is preferred
* Experience with all types of sterilizers
* Knowledge of operating room instrumentation and procedures
* Familiarity with medical terminology and departmental supply items
* Ability to quickly adapt to changing conditions of the patient when needed
Pay Range: $23.00/hr - $28.00/hr(Wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an individual's qualifications and experience.)
