Summary

Develop and/or maintain lesson plans for classroom and lab activities.
Create supplemental instructional materials.

Hold classes as scheduled; notify the Program Director or Coordinator in advance if you are to be absent, and, if possible, arrange for a substitute instructor and assignments for the class. Keep an emergency lesson plan in the classroom for substitute use.
Keep updated student contact information to aid with placement.
Prepare and complete by due date information for quarterly spreadsheets to track Completion/Placement/Licensure.
Ensure that students participate in the program evaluation survey.
Create, maintain, and document meetings and conversations with local employers. Submit annually to the Program Director.
Participate actively with Employer Advisory Committee Meetings, including inviting new members from the industry.
Ensure that all advisory meetings meet established criteria.
Actively participate in COE accreditation assignments, including writing the program narrative and preparing evidence in compliance with established standards.
Participate in assessing and communicating needs for annual budget requests.

Position Overview
Aptive is seeking skilled Sterile Processing Technicians to provide high-quality sterile processing services at the New York Harbor Healthcare System (VA NYHHS), Manhattan Campus. This role ensures the sterilization and high-level disinfection (HLD) of reusable medical equipment (RME) for surgical, dental, and hospital-wide procedures.
Hours Call Outs:
The services covered by this contract shall be furnished by the contractor as required, on call 7 days per week, 24 hours per day. The VAMC shall not pay any additional compensation to the contractor for overtime expenses incurred by its performance of this contract. Sterile Processing Technicians will be scheduled to work 8-hour shifts (plus ½ hour break), for up to 40 hours Monday through Friday each week, or on weekends as needed, not to exceed 60 workdays in 3-month period.
Monday - Friday between 12:00pm - 8:30PM excluding holidays (Employee can work 60 days within 3 months or 120 days max in 6 months and the Employee can only work 240 days every 24 month.)
Primary Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Reprocess (disassemble, clean, decontaminate, assemble, sterilize, and store) critical and semi-critical RMDs, including surgical instruments, trays, and flexible endoscopes.
Adhere to manufacturer instructions, VA directives, ANSI/AAMI ST79 standards, IAHCSMM guidelines, and OSHA regulations.
Utilize decontamination and sterilization equipment, software (e.g., Censitrac), and VA computer systems to document work.
Apply aseptic principles and techniques for sterilization, including selecting appropriate detergents, cleaning methods, and sterilization mediums.
Understand and maintain surgical instruments, reusable medical devices, and patient care equipment.
Ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 standards and VA SPS/Infection Control policies.

As a Sterilization Technician, you will be responsible for overseeing the loading/unloading of the manufacturing retorts and working collaboratively with loader/unloader operators to ensure shelf-stable food requirements are met. The Sterilization Technician will use the Log-Tec Momentum Retort Control System and Basket Tracking System (BTS) to support the efficient operation of the retorts while complying with FDA and USDA guidelines.

About the Work Environment…
The position is located at the Amsterdam, New York LEED certified production facility. This position will be required to work in an environment that requires hairnet, beard cover, safety glasses, hearing protection and lab coat. What You'll Do…
Operate and maintain thermal processing food system under FDA and USDA thermal processing guidelines for shelf-stable foods.
Support thermal processing development and testing as required at the direction of Beech-Nut's Process Authority.
Monitor Log-Tec & BTS for process deviations and refer to the process authority for evaluation and corrective action.
Evaluate current thermal processes and propose process improvements.
Provide operational support to Manufacturing Supervisors by tracking downtime, reviewing daily manufacturing records, and other duties as assigned.
Track and calibrate critical instruments used in the make and fill areas for monitoring critical process parameters (i.e. vacuum gauges, Temp & pH meters, Brookfield, etc.).
Consult with plant personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products.
Support and participate in developing and implementing operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate problems and improve product quality.

About the Role
We're looking for a dedicated Lead Sterile Processing Technician to join our team and help us continue delivering the level of care our patients and families deserve. In this role, you'll be a vital part of our team, ensuring excellent service, collaboration, and patient outcomes in a fast-paced healthcare environment. You'll use special devices to sterilize instruments and other materials. Sterile Processing technicians assume responsibility for reprocessing and delivery of re-usable instruments, sets, and linen packs. Lead Sterile Processing Technicians are responsible for ensuring adequate sterile supply levels are maintained in the operating room and other units.
What You'll Do
Sterilization: Operates sterilizing equipment on a daily basis. Reprocesses all re-usable instruments (decontamination, set identification, preparation, sterilization) with load control numbers on the item.
Organization: Monitors the cleaning, sorting, inspecting and grouping of instruments to be wrapped and sterilized.
Time Management: Recognizes request for urgent sterile instruments or sets based on surgical schedule, surgical booking and room requests and responds immediately. Follows instructions accurately, organizes multiple tasks, and establishes day to day priorities.
Communication: Verifies with Operating Room staff that proper instruments, sets and equipment are on hand and working properly. Provides information accurately and completely. Identifies service related problems and suggests ways to improve quality and productivity. Records all instruments processed in daily logs, and files according to procedure. Edits and inputs new instrument count sheets.
Equipment Maintenance: Assists in cleaning and inspecting floor equipment. Monitors and documents results of biological/bowie-dick testing, temperature and time cycles and reports malfunctions. Cleans and monitors all necessary equipment.
Supervisory: Leads, schedules and trains new employees. Acts as a resource to CSR tech team. Ensures that daily, weekly and monthly cleaning lists are completed by CSR staff.
Policies: Assists in developing, implementing and updating policies and procedures for the department. Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
