Our CSP department is responsible for decontaminating, inspecting, assembling, packaging, sterilizing and safely transporting reusable surgical instruments to our surgical areas. Job Description
IVI RMA North America is looking for a Per-Diem SterileProcessing Tech to assist in our Basking Ridge Surgery Center. This position is every other weekend and Mondays and Fridays as available.
Job Purpose:
The SterileProcessingTechnician is assigned duties performing decontamination, preparation, sterilization and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment throughout the surgery center, utilizing infection control and safety practices during all phases of the process.
Essential Functions and Accountabilities:
Verifies equipment functions properly, requisitions for equipment maintenance, repair or replacement, and removes defective equipment.
Maintains a clean and sanitary work area at all times.
Assists with maintaining established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives as well as quality improvement, safety, and environmental and infection control standards.
Decontaminates, inspects and sterilizes instruments, medical supplies and equipment.
Assembles, wraps and sterilizes instrument trays.
Monitors biological and chemical wash solution to ensure quality and consistency for decontamination of instruments and medical equipment.
Performs steam and high-level sterilization of instruments and medical devices.
Performs and records all quality control monitoring.
Checks for packaging integrity and expiration dates on all sterile items.
Restocks, labels, and maintains inventory, submits requisitions, collects and distributes instruments and trays.
Performs maintenance duties and assists in maintaining inventory levels in sterileprocessing, the operating room, and in equipment storage areas.
Academic Training:
High school diploma or GED
Studies level:
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
Graduate of a nationally accredited educational program for surgical technologists and hold a certified surgical technologist credential - OR -
Has a minimum two years' experience as a surgical instrument technician prior to January 1, 2015 and required written employment documentation.
Position Requirements/Experience:
Previous experience in women's health or reproductive endocrinology and infertility -

Technical Skills:
Knowledge of all AAMI sterilizationprocesses
Ability to effectively operate all pieces of equipment utilized within the scope of this job.

Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Central SterileTechnician-Cobble Hill SPD-Evening Shift (37.5 Hours).
In this role, the successful candidate Responsible for all instruments exchange carts, par level carts, instrument sets, single peel packs, and emergency supplies meet established quotas both qualitatively and quantitatively. Delivers them to the surgical suites in a timely manner. Decontaminates, disinfects, test, adjust and assembles mobile patient equipment and assists in decontaminating designated surgical instrumentation. Inventories, orders and stocks medical disposable goods in storage areas and is responsible for the materials handling within the sterileprocessing area. Answers telephones, handles face to face interactions with internal and external customers and actively participate in continuous quality improvement process.
Job Responsibilities:
Demonstrates knowledge of decontamination, disinfection and cleaning methods.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Performs and documents quality assurance processes, and random sampling of products according to protocol.
Incorporates infection control guidelines during the transferring, storing and transporting of sterile packages.
Effectively enters, modifies and searches information in the instrument tracking system.
Demonstrates knowledge of sterilizationprocesses, documentation and delivery of sterile packages.
Demonstrates knowledge of major surgical instruments preparation and assembly, inspection and packaging.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High School Diploma or equivalent. Certification from the Certification for SterileProcessing and Distribution (CBSPD) Certified Or Registered Central Service Technician (HSPA) : (1) Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST), (2) Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER), or (3) Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER). *Provisional certification is acceptable. 400 hours of on-hands training will need to be achieved prior to expiration of the provisional certification..

Preferred Qualifications:

Knows and uses the processes involved in ordering, receiving, stocking, rotating delivering and monitoring usage of surgical supplies. Communicates supply issues to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
Environmental Standards; Maintains a clean orderly work area. Completes assigned housekeeping duties.
Serves as a resource to customers on all Central Processing functions.

Familiarity with medical technology preferred.
Grandfathering: Certain individuals are grandfathered in and do not have to be certified so long as the individual must have worked for a cumulative total of one year in the four years of January 2011 to January 2015.

What You'll Be Doing
Main Function:
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, assists in providing care to a designated patient population in collaboration with other members of the health care team.
Follows hospital policy for site verification
Maintain sterile field for breaks in technique and takes corrective action to maintain sterile field.
Applies scientific principles in adhering to sterile technique (gowning, gloving, draping.)
Handles and passes instruments and supplies appropriately.
Handles specimens according to policy and procedure.
Performs counts according to established procedures.
Adheres to universal precautions.
What We're Looking For
Full Time, Day shift, 7am to 5:30pm. Rotational on-call required
Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technician Program.
• Current Certified Surgical Technician (CST) certification.
• AHA BLS certification required.
• One (1) year experience in an acute care/hospital setting preferred.
• Exceptional customer service, communication, attention to detail, excellent hand-eye coordination, self-motivated and work in an efficient and effective manner. The ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs, a strong sense of accountability for improving patient experience and patient satisfaction with exceptional focus on teamwork.
