Job Summary and Qualifications
A qualified individual holding certification in CSR with administrative accountability to designated service area. Collaborates with OR/CSR manager and Surgical Services Director to plan, staffing needs, and oversee competency of staff. Responsible for the instrumentation processing, which includes the decontamination and sterile prep area. Demonstrates expertise in instrumentation reprocessing and infection control practices. Participates in employee selection process; Recommends corrective and other employee actions to CSR Manager. Assists with evaluations in a constructive manner to ensure improved employee performance. Assists CSR Manager and Director in coaching, counseling, and disciplining staff per hospital policy.
Directs, supervises and assist with the daily work load in the CSR, instrument processing and decontamination of surgical instrumentation and equipment.
Directs, supervises and assists with instrument processing technicians in maintaining accurate records on sterilization.
Assists in visual inspection, assembly and wrapping of sterile instruments prior to sterilization.
Assists with the care and maintenance of equipment and instrumentation.

Assists in the daily management/ operations functions related to staffing, scheduling and materials management.

Responsibilities:
1. Assembles surgical instruments, and equipment for departmental utilization and surgical procedures. • Transports/Receives soiled instruments from clinical areas to decontamination area of Sterile Processing Department. • Is knowledgeable about the functionality of the ultrasonic washer, washer/disinfectors, gas plasma sterilizers, steam sterilizers, and immediate-use steam sterilizers. • Is knowledgeable about the functionality of instrument tracking system to track individual instruments, and instrument sets through the decontamination, assembly, and storage processes. • Cleans and decontaminates surgical instrumentation according to manufacturer's instructions for use. • Inspects surgical instruments for defects during cleaning, assembly, and wrapping processes. • Assembles instrument sets for specific surgical cases and sterilizes them according to manufacturer's instructions for use. • Appropriately wraps and labels individual surgical instruments for sterilization. • Sterilizes instruments according to procedures: steam sterilization, or gas plasma sterilization. • Delivers processed instruments to clinical areas, or sterile storage area. • Operates equipment used in processing and sterilization in strict accordance with prescribed standards and procedures. • Tests mechanical washers, and sterilization equipment per protocols and documents findings appropriately. 2. Works cooperatively with other team members to facilitate departmental operations. • Contributes to maintenance of a clean/safe work area by cleaning all operational equipment as outlined in departmental procedure manual. • Follows procedures as outlined for maintenance of instruments and equipment. • Participates in keeping documentation and instrument tray count lists current. • Maintains par levels in the operating room to support patient care. • Routinely rounds on clinical units to retrieve instruments/trays that need to be processed. 3. The Delivery Technician is responsible for delivering durable medical equipment to Apria patients in the home.
The anticipated hourly range for this position is $18.33 - $21.69. The actual compensation offered may vary based on job related factors such as experience, skills, education and location.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Pulls, packs, delivers and picks up medications, supplies and basic equipment.
May instruct patients on basic use of respiratory therapy equipment, durable medical equipment, oxygen equipment, and other equipment/services approved by state licensure limitations.
Loads and unloads durable medical and infusion equipment onto delivery vehicle.
Responds to emergency delivery calls as needed during regular business hours and on an on-call basis.
Completes necessary paperwork including daily delivery logs, pick-up and delivery forms and vehicle maintenance logs. Distributes paperwork to appropriate personnel.
Maintains supply component of patient profiles.
