Overview:
The SterileProcessing Instrument Technician, under general supervision follows robust processes in Decontamination, Processing and Sterilization by cleaning instruments and equipment ensuring that all items are free of any bioburden, inspecting, function testing and assembling instruments and equipment for High Level Disinfection or Sterilization. Part-time Description
Receives and processes incoming supplies and equipment, performs cleaning and sterilizing duties, prepares packs of supplies, linens, and instruments in central supply as directed.
Decontaminates instruments, supplies and equipment according to established policies and procedures.
Cleans, assembles, wraps, sterilizes and stores supplies and instrument trays.
Distributes supplies and equipment to units in a timely fashion.
Maintains an adequate supply of packs and supplies to meet area needs including inventory control, proper labeling, inspection of linen and labeling of packages.
Performs biological and chemical monitoring in accordance with quality assurance standards.
Sterilizes instruments, equipment and supplies as required; handles and stores instruments, equipment and supplies appropriately.
Maintains the cleanliness of work areas as required.
Participates in educational programs and inservice meetings.
Requirements
16 hours per week
Central Supply Tech Certificate preferred
High School Diploma or GED
At least one year experience preferred.
