Successful incumbent performs effective on-site preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, equipment modification and installation support on complex mechanical, electro-mechanical and electronic units primarily in a hospital environment under a highly regulated, time-sensitive environment. Our technicians provide Customers with basic information, pricing and options, and focus on clear, proactive communications during all service phases to optimize Customer operations. This role demonstrates high adaptability and sound judgement to changing needs and demands.
Partnering with cross-functional teams (Tech Support, Engineering, Service Contract Management) and escalates issues appropriately. Utilizes advanced technology platforms to complete compliance-regulatory requirements, resolve and document troubleshooting issues and improve the overall Customer experience.
Successful incumbent demonstrates fundamental skills and competence in being a Trusted Advisor to STERIS Customers in maintenance and procurement of medical devices and consumable products as part of a high performing team. This includes successful completion of STERIS technical and Customer engagement training (Achieving One of Kind Service).
This is a safety sensitive position.
What You'll Do as a Procedural Service Technician
Drive Customer satisfaction through pro-active communication and commitment to resolving Customer issues/problems expediently.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance required on STERIS Surgical product lines, related product lines, and related competitive equipment in a safe and efficient manner. This includes: disassembling, replacing, or repairing defective parts; rewiring or reassembling as required; troubleshooting, adjusting/calibrating, and certifying equipment ready for use by using standard and specialized tools and test equipment (i.e., schematics, diagrams, technical manuals, etc.).
Perform Customer training and in-servicing on assigned equipment (lights, tables, integration, etc.). Coordinate these activities with DSM and Capital Account Manager.
Ensure a positive Customer experience by performing installations or conversions on assigned equipment and start up custom equipment as required. Perform site visits for small projects and coordinate activities with project managers and/or installers.
Utilize technology (smart phone, laptop computer and related software and applications) to perform administrative duties as assigned to ensure effective planning, utilization, and required document completion. This includes, but is not limited to: scheduling and updating work activities in Siebel, complete service reports and activities on-site; communicate effectively with internal and external Customers; troubleshoot equipment, improve productivity, learn new technologies; maintain on-site Customer Service Logs according to STERIS procedures; and maintain tools and parts inventory to prescribed levels.
Establish and maintain effective communicative relationships with Customers, managers, support functions and the sales organization. Communicate activities to Customers related to scheduling Preventative Maintenance and estimated time of arrival for unscheduled work. Pro-actively respond to and resolve Customer problems/issues. Utilize provided product and industry knowledge to assure Customer's expectations of service are exceeded. Recommend product enhancements based on knowledge of the Customers equipment applications and processes. Actively seek continuing education opportunities.
Increase company growth through identifying sales opportunities, and recommending STERIS products/services to Customers. Communicate leads to management and sales staff. Be a positive ambassador for STERIS at Customer sites.
Must learn and use proper operating room and hospital protocols while on-site. Must abide by all STERIS and Customer Health & Safety protocols and procedures. These may include OR Protocol and Sterile Field guidelines.
Assist DSM by conducting or assisting with inventory procedures to ensure inventory levels are maintained according to company policy, and resolve outstanding purchase order issues once recognized by the DSM.
The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed:
• High School Diploma or GED w minimum of 4 years of work experience, including 2 years mechanical/technical directly related experience (e.g. mechanical, electrical, HVAC, automotive,IT).
• Customer and team engagement experience.
• Basic computer skills (MS windows/email, navigation, mobile app, data input into multi systems).
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and the ability meet all required background and physical assessment elements to obtain & maintain existing and new vendor credentialing requirements.
• Ability to work flexible hours, sometimes outside “normal business hours” and including over night travel (amount may vary based on district geography).
• Ability to establish effective home office (High Speed internet,, conducive working space, secure company owned equipment and info).

Pay rate for this opportunity is $60,137.50 - $77.825. This position is eligible for bonus participation.

We are looking for a talented and skilled Field Service Engineer to join our Diagnostics division servicing our molecular diagnostic and cytology equipment across the **North Los Angeles** area.
**Is this role for you?**
+ You have experience providing engineering support to medical devices, including preventative maintenance and troubleshooting.
+ You are comfortable traveling as required for the job, typically 5 days per week with overnight stays.
+ You excel at troubleshooting and enjoy solving complex issues.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
+ Conducts advanced troubleshooting to repair, test and qualify instruments located at assigned territory sites.
+ Schedules and manages preventive maintenance and unscheduled visits to instrument sites.
+ Determines correct inventory levels of repair parts with supply lines.
+ Documents repair/ resolution of customer calls in CRM system and escalates issues to management as needed.
+ Works with Product Application Engineers to resolve quality issues and advise of issues and developments.
+ Keep management advised of issues and developments.
+ Ensure instrumentation is in compliance with regulatory requirements and quality control standards.
**Qualifications**
+ Must be able to meet all customer credentialing requirements.
+ Working knowledge of chemistry principles and chemical handling techniques.
+ Understanding of proper use and operation of electronic testing equipment.
+ Knowledge of inventory and procurement systems.
+ Ability to interface with internal and/or external customers.
+ Solid computer skills.
+ Time management skills.
+ Strong robotics, fluidics and pneumatics experience preferred.
+ Ability to pass a comprehensive background check.
+ Possess a valid Driver's License and maintain a clean driving record.
**Education**
+ BS/BA degree or equivalent experience preferred.
+ AA/AS degree and/or practical Military experience considered.
**Experience**
+ 2+ years related field experience with direct customer interaction, preferably in a laboratory setting.
**Additional Details:**
+ This person will work out of a home-based office.
+ There will be on-call duties on rotation.
+ Overnight/out-of-area travel as needed.
+ Candidate must be within one hour of Seatac International Airport.

The annualized base salary range for this role is $71,000 to $106,700 and is bonus eligible. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, geography, education, business needs and market demand.
