Stevens is in the heart of Hoboken, New Jersey, the Mile Square City, ranked one of the top ten college towns in the U.S. Founded in 1870 by America's First Family of Inventors - who patented steam ferries and the modern form of railroad track, among many other inventions - technological innovation has remained the hallmark of Stevens' education and research programs ever since. Today, within the university's three schools and one college, 6,800 undergraduate and graduate students collaborate with more than 380 faculty members in an interdisciplinary, student-centric, entrepreneurial environment to advance the frontiers of science and leverage technology to confront global challenges. Among the programs available to study are engineering & science, systems thinking, business, and the humanities. The Charles V. Schaefer, Jr. School of Engineering & Science maintains a rigorous commitment to preparing the next generation of technology leaders by offering a multi-disciplinary, design-based education with eight departments and 50 academic programs. The School of Business, which is accredited by AACSB, offers seven undergraduate majors, nine master's programs and a doctoral degree. Graduates of business programs at Stevens are prepared to lead people, projects and technology policy at companies in any industry. The School of Systems & Enterprises (SSE) offers two undergraduate majors, two minors, nine master's programs and four doctoral degrees - all of which focus on three core areas: systems & software engineering, financial engineering and enterprise science & engineering. The College of Arts and Letters is devoted to traditional humanities and liberal arts education and research as seen through the lens of science and technology. The College of Arts and Letters offers nine undergraduate programs, one master's program, and a graduate certificate in Policy and Innovation. Stevens is a vibrant community home to more than 100 student clubs and organizations from student government, fraternity and sorority life, community service and more! The student life on the Stevens campus includes an academic support center, which offers tutoring and advising, athletic and recreational services, a health center, and counseling. There are also cooperative education programs. The career development center is available for all students who are looking for a job during their college education or post-graduation. The multiple career fairs a year can be the perfect place to meet a potential employer. The center also offers help writing resumes and finding internships and jobs. Stevens ranked 6th in the nation for "Best Career Placement" in the 2016 edition of "Colleges That Pay You Back." 95% of Stevens students secure jobs or graduate school enrollment within six months of graduation. Financial aid options for eligible students include loans, grants, work-study, and scholarships, all of which can help cover tuition costs.
