    The Environmental Chemistry Lab (Dr. Tao Ye) in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Ocean Engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology is seeking a Research Intern for a summer research internship. The intern will participate in faculty-supervised research related to environmental chemistry and engineering, with a focus on water quality, disinfection byproducts, and experimental and data-driven analysis. The position is designed to provide hands-on research training in an academic laboratory setting. The intern will assist with laboratory experiments, sample preparation, data collection and analysis, literature review, and general research support activities. The intern will work closely with graduate students and the faculty supervisor and is expected to follow all laboratory safety and research protocols.     Under the direction of the Director of Networking, the Network Analyst and Student Intern Coordinator implements, maintains, assists in planning and troubleshoots network/telecommunications equipment. The incumbent may also be called upon to install, maintain and support software utilities and applications associated with the main Cisco networking systems and the telecommunications (voice/video/data) environment on an as needed basis as determined by the Director of Networking. This position is expected to assist in maintaining 7 day by 24-hour up time for all critical network segments. Required Qualifications: PRINCIPAL DUTIES: Network Analyst 80% of Resource 1. Installs, maintains and troubleshoots mostly Cisco Local Area Network (LAN) hardware and Wireless Access Points, primarily layer 2 switches. Also includes physical fiber/copper troubleshooting, patching and running. Some OSI layer 3 work and higher as the individual's skill set permits. Maintains detailed documentation concerning layouts and connections. 2. Installs, maintains and troubleshoots LAN software, including operating systems, applications, utilities and management software. 3. Designs and conducts tests for monitoring and evaluating the continuing performance of all network equipment, including utilization, loading and response. Provides management reports showing the status of the environment. 4. Maintains a working knowledge of continuing developments in the field of Networking. Must make design and hardware recommendations to the Director of Networking. 5. On call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Required to work on weekends and holidays when scheduled. 6. Monitors and responses to end user tickets through the Ticket Management system. 7. Performs other work related duties as requested. PRINCIPAL DUTIES: Student Intern Coordinator: 20% of Resource 1. Assists with on-boarding training of each new wave of student Interns. 2. Works side-by-side with students on designated day to observe their work. 3. Meets with Interns 1:1 on a weekly basis to discuss training, skills learned, tickets processed, questions and ongoing improvements. 4. Works with Students on developing Knowledge Items and working with Auto Pilot call configurations. 5. Acts as primary mentor for Students working with faculty to ensure accreditation of program; recommend grades to faculty. 6. Serves as primary contact in the recruitment of Student Interns, including posting waves on Handshake and interviewing candidates. 7. Acts as liaison between Service Desk and Computer Science Department in management of Internship program. 8. Actively recruits new students to the program through promotions, presentations, etc. 9. Additional Service Desk hours must be approved by Director of Networking. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Minimum of BS in Computer Science required plus two years of experience in Networking Technology. 2. Ability to demonstrate a strong working knowledge of Cisco IOS. Most importantly, around layer 2 configuration, ASIC based QOS, 802.1q, etherchannel, and spanning tree. Strong knowledge of IP subnetting, routing and VLAN's. 3. Demonstrated aptitude in network management with experience in LAN, WAN, Wireless and VOIP technologies. 4. Thorough working knowledge of TCP/IP. 5. Past experience using network troubleshooting/certification devices such as a packet sniffer, OTDR, CATx certification tool or a wireless spectrum analyzer. 6. Ability to perform skilled work in the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of networking/telecommunications equipment. 7. Effective organizational skills to meet schedules and timelines. 8. Ability to self-educate. Our environment is fast paced. Learning on your own rapidly and having the ability to produce are essential to success in this position. 9. Ability to communicate well orally and in writing. 10. Ability to communicate and interact with all levels of university personnel and students. 11.
