    JOB SUMMARY: The Senior Casualty Claims Adjuster is an associate level position handling claims open to close. This role is responsible for directly handling complex, high dollar claims on behalf of a large, refrigerated truckload carrier. The successful candidate must be willing to handle all levels of claims and interact directly with our drivers, claimants, claims adjusters, other department personnel, and mid-level and senior management. The position is located in Dallas, Texas and is not remote but does not require travel. JOB DESCRIPTION: Key Responsibilities * Investigating the facts and circumstances of each claim and making settlement decisions within authority level * Serves as point of contact with respective parties, i.e., claimants, insurance companies, attorneys, pertinent to settlement negotiations and settlements * Communicating with adjusters, appraisers and Stevens Transport Shop management to ensure photos are taken of damage to vehicles, replacement part prices are competitive, and labor costs are appropriate to repairs * On an as needed basis, reviews claim file for activity and disposition; ensures settled claim files and non active claim files placed into closed or non-active file status * Ensuring all claim activity recorded in claim "diary"; maintains claims "diary" * Communicating with owner operators regarding accident claims * Responding to phone call regarding accidents and records accident information onto accident information form * Reviewing accident reports and makes determination concerning liability and value QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Qualifications * Comprehensive knowledge of auto liability claims process * Ability to speak, read and write English proficiently * Ability to interface with internal and external customers in a pleasant manner on an ongoing basis * Ability to multitask * Ability to work claims files in timely manner * Ability to report to work according to work schedule as agreed upon with Supervisor/Manager * Ability to work outside of regular work schedule as directed and agreed upon with Supervisor/Manager * Demonstrated willingness to earn certification/license * Language Skills: Proficient use of English language when speaking and conversing, ability to articulate facts and position * Math Skills: Basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division skills * Ability to use good judgment and common sense * Ability to analyze and solve complex problems requiring above average analytical skills * Ability to negotiate settlement Preferred Qualifications * High school diploma * Knowledge and experience valuing claims and setting reserves * Experience working with Defense Plaintiffs attorneys * Experience working with disputed, pre-litigation and litigated matters * Claims Adjuster certification/license * Ability to negotiate settlements of all sizes * Experience with handling commercial truck claims * Self-Starter, Self-Motivated, Personal Pride in managing claim files to resolution SKILLS AND ABILITIES: * Claims processing * Case management * Loss investigation * Subrogation * Customer service * Time management * Problem solving * Research * Negotiation * Evidence collection * Damages review * Liability determination * Basic PC skills including Microsoft Office products, Word and Excel PHYSICAL DEMANDS: * Ability to sit for up to 4 hours at a time * Ability to lift up to 15 pounds as needed Work Experience: * 5+ years prior experience conducting investigations in multi-party situations Workshift: M-F (Weekend Rotation) (United States of America) Education: In compliance with Federal and State equal employment opportunity laws, qualified candidates are considered for all positions without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, marital status, veteran status, non-job-related disability, or any other protected group status.
