By 1879, Steves stocked an average of three million board feet of lumber, serving the growing building needs throughout western Texas, northern Mexico, and the growing frontier.
To keep distribution costs low and make products affordable for customers, a millwork plant was established in 1904.
By 1912 the millwork plant was so successful that the business was renamed to Steves Sash & Door Company.
The War YearsIn 1916, Steves Sash & Door Company was the largest millwork operation in the southwest.
In 1987 the Crest exterior door company was started.
