Position Overview
The Shipping Associate manages high-volume shipping operations by coordinating schedules with carriers, ensuring accurate processing of all outgoing shipments, and confirming timely delivery in line with client requirements.
Working Hours: M-F, 7:30am - 4:00pm
Responsibilities
Demonstrate proficiency in UPS and FedEx shipping systems, ensuring accurate and timely processing of outbound shipment.
Possess a solid understanding of freight logistics, including coordination and optimization of shipping routes and methods.
Manage the loading and handling of materials with efficiency and care.
Ensure strict compliance with dock safety protocols, promoting a safe and organized loading environment.
Coordinate high-volume shipping operations, handling large daily shipment quantities with precision and reliability.
Coordinate and communicate effectively with freight carriers to schedule timely pickups and resolve any logistical issues.
Inspect for any obvious quality issues, including short counts, packing issues, damaged goods, color quality, size, or finishing issues.
Operate forklift or pallet jacks safely, while loading outbound shipments and to move materials to proper department or areas.
Maintains forklift by completing preventative maintenance at beginning of shift.
Performs general housekeeping, maintenance and organization of the dock and inventory areas.
Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
Prepares paperwork, packing list, bill of lading for all ground and LTL shipments.
Load all outbound LTL shipments.
Contribute to safety goals by maintaining a clean, clutter-free workplace, report potentially unsafe conditions and ensure that the department meets and exceeds safety requirements.
Meet productivity and quality standards by completing work in a timely and accurate manner.
Support the Receiving team as needed with workload overflow and/or cross training for departmental coverage
Work overtime as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Forklift certified
Experienced with UPS and FedEx shipping systems, and scheduling of outbound freight shipments across multiple carriers
Ability to read and interpret shipping documents (BOLs, packing lists, etc.)

Ensure proper packaging is used per our agreements.
Perform the physical restocking of customer's shelves to required inventory levels.
Monitor stock levels at the customer's facility and generate replenishment orders to bring stock up to required levels.
Maintain the Austin stocking area at the customer's facility in a clean, orderly, and well labeled manner.
Review and recommend to the VMI Team or the VMI PIM, changes to the customer stocking level to insure excellent service levels.
Identify products or services that Austin may provide to the customer and communicate that information back to Austin sales contact.
Monitor dead and obsolete inventory status communicating to VMI Team or VMI PIM.
Be Austin's on-site representative to all departments at the customer's facility and work to suggest improvement to the VMI program with the customer and Austin management team.
