Job Summary:
The Food Service Receiver (FSR) provides support to the Food Service department. The FSR works with staff and volunteers to ensure that food quality, service, and cleanliness are maintained at the highest possible level. This position is responsible for accounting for the food products that come into the building and ensuring appropriate rotations are utilized.
Reports To: Food Service Manager
Duties:
Work with staff and volunteers to ensure that food quality, guest service, and kitchen/dining
room cleanliness are maintained at the highest possible level.
Follows all sanitary food handling practices and kitchen rules.
Works with staff & volunteers to ensure proper receiving and rotation practices, such as FIFO (First in, first out).
Maintain communication with Food Service Department.
Work with the Food Service Manager to utilize donated products.
Model kitchen standards for quality, service, and cleanliness.
Sorting, logging, and rotating stock received.
Checking the quality of donated and purchased food. Discard food which has exceeded expiration dates or is in any way questionable.
Provide food service support, as needed.
Ensure accurate tracking of donated products.
Maintain cleanliness of resident and commercial kitchens utilizing cleaning checklist, as needed.
Follow the FIFO principles to ensure that older inventory is used first.
Utilizing FIFO, unpack and disperse the items to their designated areas.
Store food in FIFO order on shelves in accordance with local health and sanitation requirements.
Inform Food Service Manager of food items and kitchen supplies needed.
Inspect and sort all donated products so that quality products are kept and used.
Confirm items received from vendors match the invoice.
Assist in reporting of receipt of product to Feeding America.
Keep all coolers, dry good areas and loading docks (both receiving area and B6 drop off area) clean and free from debris. Clean and organize all storage areas. Sweep and mop storage area floors.
Keep freight elevators clean and clear of debris.
Keep all receiving carts clean. Alert Food Service Manager of any breakage of carts and storage shelving.
Remove and dispose of all boxes, recycling them whenever possible.
Use approved chemicals safely and according to directions on container.
Perform any other tasks deemed necessary by the Food Service Manager or Director of
Operations.
May be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays and special events.
Requirements:
High Diploma or GED required
2+ yrs experience in Hospitality, Kitchen work, Food Service Receiver or Restaurant support handling food and picking up items for the kitchen
Must be comfortable driving a truck; picking up baked good, produce and other perishable items from Costo, Whole Foods and donation centers.
Able to drive between 6am-10am picking up perishable items for the kitchen (Company truck provided)
Able to lift 50lbs and be on your feet all day; ability to take boxes of food in and out of the truck
Experience to check the fridge daily to ensure items are not spoiled; notify manager of items that are needed to be used asap
Experience or ability Inspect and sort all donated products so that quality products are kept and used.
Requires a California driver's license and clean DMV
Must pass background and drug test
Will need to obtain Food handler and ServSafe certifications upon hire (company pays)
Must enjoy driving, stocking/handling food and delivering items.
Requires experience to follow safety and sanitary procedures, ex: Not leaving food on the ground, meat needs to be covered etc. Follows all sanitary food handling practices and kitchen rules.

Warehouse (Stow and Storage): Stow receipted stock within appropriate storage areas and locations. Ensure stock material is accurate and stored properly and is appropriately packed, preserved, and ready for issue. Comprehend and understand the facility storage plan as outlined by management and SOPs. Gather and report information about stock in storage as required.
Requisition Processing: Pick and pack customer requisitions/orders as generated by the WMS. Verify picks and packs are accurate as compared to requisition documentation (NSN, quantity, and Condition Code).
Inventory Verification / Validations: Perform physical inventory counts (various TPIC) and verify location to ensure stock accuracy.
Responsive communication to the Inventory, Customer Service, and Quality Control teams regarding any system discrepancies that cannot be resolved.
Ability to use e-mail to receive and disseminate workload tasks and information.

Hourly Pay Range is $17.25-$17.75
Full time and Part time associates are eligible to participate in the Company's 401(k) retirement savings plan after three (3) months of service. All associates earn paid sick leave.
In addition, Full time associates receive vacation and paid holidays. Benefits for full-time employment on the first of the month following 30 days of continuous employment include offerings for programs including Medical, Dental, Vision, Prescription Drug, Life Insurance, Flexible Spending, Commuter Benefits and Employee Assistance.
