Job Responsibilities

Introduction
UConn's Facilities Operations Department has a job opening for one Mail Handler position. This is a permanent, full-time position, Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., 37.5 hours per week with an unpaid half an hour for lunch. This position reports to the Mail Services Supervisor. The hourly rate will be determined at the time of the job offer based on the employee's current job classification and step and is non-negotiable.
This position is categorized as Emergency Support Services/Essential Staff. Must be willing to work during emergency closures/delayed openings due to inclement weather or for significant events that affect campus operations. Applicants must also be willing to work non-premium holidays.
Selection Plan
This position is categorized as "Open Only to Current NP-2 Employees at UConn and Current NP-2 Employees at other State Agencies". Current, qualified UConn NP-2 employees will be given preference in the hiring process.

At UConn, Mail Handlers are required to lift mail bags and packages that range from 30 lbs. to 70 lbs. each and on average may carry/deliver 60 to 100 mail bags and packages each day.
