POSITION SUMMARY
A nation-wide storage and logistics company is looking for multiple Art Handlers to join their team and support day-to-day transportation and offsite activities out of the company's Washington, DC warehouse. The ideal candidates will have 3-5 years' experience working with storage, as well as collection management knowledge, and will be comfortable moving and handling a wide range of art objects. Responsibilities include installation and de-installation of artworks, along with proper packing of artworks for transport or storage, and the careful preparation and execution of job related paperwork. The firm is looking for dedicated team players with excellent communication skills and an attention for detail.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Proper handling of art objects, using the appropriate methods and materials for packaging, loading & securing for safe transport
Install/de-install artworks in-house or at offsite locations, often troubleshooting and utilizing critical thinking to solution scope changes
Preparation and careful execution of paperwork, including bills of lading, labels, driver logs, and detailed condition reports with accompanying photos if necessary
Receive and release shipments into warehouse facilities
Pack artworks for local, national, international transportation and storage
Maintain compliance with all local, state, DOT regulations
Support to internal teams as needed
Weekend, overtime, and holiday work may be necessary; therefore, schedule flexibility is required
Other projects as assigned by Manager
QUALIFICATIONS
Team Player, able to work in a fast-paced, detail-oriented and dynamic environment
Demonstrated knowledge of installation, packing and art handling
Excellent communication and attention to detail to both clients and coworkers
Ability to problem solve and solution onsite issues with the experience to know when to escalate problems to supervisor
Valid driver's license; CDL license a bonus
Ability to push and pull 150 pounds on a dolly or cart, as well as 50 pounds without mechanical aid
Ability to carry 40 pounds of varying size and shape up to a distance of 90 feet
Ability to stand, walk, squat, bend, kneel, crouch, twist, and reach overhead
Ability to be exposed to outside weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain and snow
Familiarity with the use of hand trucks, pallet jacks, j-bars, dollies and other necessary warehouse equipment
This in-person position requires on-site presence at the company's DC facility, as well as the project location, five days a week with occasional requests to work nights and on weekends.

This position is full-time Monday - Friday from 7-4:30pm with the occasional overtime. The pay rate is $23-25 based on, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications. Addition compensation can include driving bonuses and target bonuses.

Your challenges:
The warehouse operation is 24 x 7, 365 days a year and will require shift work.
Receive and inspect parts into the Satair Group IT Systems and put stock away in correct location.
Pick and process orders in the correct priority sequence according to established performances targets; packing parts for safe shipment according to shipping instructions and applicable standard specifications (ATA300).

Location/Division Specific Information:
As part of the BioServices team, the Rockville, MD site focuses on the receipts, inventory storage, withdrawal and shipment of biological specimens, samples, and materials from multiple government clients.
How Will You Make an Impact?:
The Material Handler I supports operations by storing and shipping materials at temperatures ranging from ambient (room temperature) to -196 degrees C with potentially hazardous properties.
A Day in the Life:
Receive incoming and ship biological samples
Facilitate movement of materials, including hazardous materials, across the site
Maintain accurate inventory through receipts, shipments, inventory maintenance projects, and inspections
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
Required: No previous work experience required
Preferred: Experience in laboratory. distribution, warehouse or supply chain or related field
Preferred: Experience with warehouse equipment
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Able to work independently and set priorities
Effective interpersonal and communication skills
Able to work as part of a team
Able to work with methods to handle, process and store specimens using a computerized storage and retrieval system
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
Able to work in a cold environment with exposure to dry ice, liquid nitrogen cryogenics, hazardous and infectious agents, and marked changes in temperature
Must use personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to safety protocols
Able to lift and carry 50 lbs and push up to 70 lbs
Periodically work in walk-in freezers and refrigerators for up to 5 hours per day

Your Tasks:
The Material Handler I supports basic daily warehouse operations in a highly regulated environment, ensuring materials are handled, labeled, stored, and shipped safely. They follow Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP) guidelines to maintain product quality and accurate documentation. This role requires strong attention to detail, time management, and the ability to follow procedures consistently.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Operate Powered Industrial Trucks (PITs), including electric pallet jacks, turret truck and similar equipment.
Perform basic fundamental transactions using ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning/SAP) and RF systems.
Support receiving and inspecting incoming materials; verify documentation and enter data accurately in ERP systems, adhering to GDP.
Label, stage, and store materials in appropriate warehouse locations, including cold storage, following cGMP and safety protocols.
Pick, pack, prepare, and ship orders, including hazardous and biological materials, in compliance with cGMP and approved procedures.
Reservation fulfillment to support CDMO operations efficiently and accurately.
Transport materials across the site ensuring compliance with cGMP standards and safety protocols.
Assist with daily and weekly inventory cycle counts to maintain accurate material tracking and inventory control.
Deliver materials to internal teams such as production and quality while ensuring all movements are documented per GDP.
Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), cGMP, and GDP rigorously in all tasks.
Use shipping software (e.g., FedEx/UPS) to prepare outbound shipments accurately and maintain related documentation.
Maintain cleanliness and organization in assigned work areas consistent with cGMP requirements.
Comply with all applicable safety regulations, including use of PPE and handling of hazardous materials.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives or projects.

Requirements:
A High School Diploma or GED, plus 1-2 years of experience in a regulated cGMP material management environment and basic operating experience with SAP and proficiency in similar ERP systems, cGMP and biomanufacturing environments.
