Responsibilities
As a Dock Worker, you will load and unload freight in a productive, safe and claims-free manner. Although DFL Dock Workers do not work inside a warehouse, you must maximize space when loading freight.
Complete pre and post trip inspections on all dock equipment
Properly document all freight control processes
Participate in Dayton Freight's training and improvement programs

Physical Demands
A Material Handler can work in any range of environments including production, warehouse or outdoor environments where temperatures can range in excess of 100 degrees. Manage FIFO for raw inventory in continuation with operations
Lift raw materials, finished products, and packed items, manually or using lifting tools as required
Work with the layout of the warehouse to ensure secure, efficient storage of goods and supplies.
Mark or tag identification on parts/bundles
Logs order information into the computer and files and distributes paperwork as necessary
Move freight, stock, or other materials to and from storage or production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, or containers, by hand or using trucks, tractors, or other equipment
Sort cargo before loading and unloading
Plans the activities of the shipping/receiving/warehouse organizer function in an organized, clean work environment that is in compliance with Company's policies, OSHA, and government regulations.
Package finished product for shipping (shrink wrapping, boxing, labeling).
Stage finished product for loading.
Attach identifying tags to containers or mark them with identifying information
Read sales orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs
Record numbers of units handled or moved, using daily check sheets
Maintain equipment storage areas to ensure that inventory is protected
Inspect product load for accuracy and safety move it around the warehouse or facility to ensure timely and complete delivery
Manually or mechanically load or unload inbound and/or outbound materials from pallets, skids, platforms, cars, lifting devices, or other transport vehicles
Position lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, or boxes and secure material or products for transport to designated areas
Weigh materials or products and record weight or other production data on tags or labels
Follow established company and work area safety policies including the wearing of all required PPE's
Follow established company policies, policies and rules outlined in Member Handbook as well as procedures required in the standard operating procedures/work instructions
Maintains open communication with supervisors, team leaders and other material handlers regarding stocking and movement of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods
Assist in maintaining work area (i.e. sweeping, emptying trash, etc.)

SUMMARY
The Forklift Operator is responsible for loading, unloading and moving all materials throughout the facility for processing and assists in the handling/processing of materials as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Loads and/or unloads materials on trailers as needed.
· Weighs, labels and properly stores all processed materials as required.
· Maintains and services the forklift truck and informs the Supervisor of any significant issues.
· Completes forklift inspections by checking the items on the daily forklift inspection sheet and reports any significant issues to shift supervisor and documents findings.
· Operates balers, granulators, trash compactor and other equipment as needed.
· Provides proper weight tickets to front office for billing purposes.
· Ensure proper tare weight program is used for material by referencing spec sheets.
· Sweeps up debris in the following areas: shipping/ receiving trailers, granulators,
balers, floor scales, and surrounding warehouse areas.
· Empties trash containers throughout the facility and performs daily scale inspections.
· Occasionally required to perform the duties and responsibilities of a Material Handler: separate, sort, and process all materials by using necessary process machinery to complete tasks.
· Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
· Must be able to interact in person with peers and management for the duration of the shift.
