Standard Position Description Job Title: Material Handler B Reports To: Manufacturing Manager Salary Exempt: No Approved By: Plant Manager Date Approved: Summary: The Material Handler B is responsible for safely handling and staging material for production at the paint line/ Slitter. The Material Handler B is also responsible for preparing necessary materials for packaging of finished coils. In addition to those primary functions, the Material Handler B ensures that finished coils are properly identified with a coil identification ticket and are stored properly in a designated location. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 1. Responsible for preparing materials to be used for packaging and shipping of finished coils. 2. Responsible for packaging finished coils in a safe manner and moving those coils in a safe manner to a designated location for finished goods. 3. Responsible for verifying that finished goods (coils) are properly identified with an identification ticket prior to moving them to a storage area. 4. Responsible for verifying that finished goods (coils) are not damaged or visibly non-conforming prior to moving them to a designated storage area. 5. Responsible for quarantining non-conforming material (using the HFI process) and notifying Quality Control when non-conforming conditions exist. 6. Responsible for understanding and complying with the fundamental principles associated with the Quality and Environmental Management System in place at Metal Coaters. 7. Communicates daily with internal personnel from Maintenance, Operations and Quality Control in order to help resolve any problems and help achieve company goals. Environmental Impacts of this Position The Material Handler B, has a responsibility of avoiding environmental impacts such as; the release of: oils, grease from forklifts and cranes, solvents, paints and various other chemicals by accidental puncture, while performing your daily duties. You also: have the responsibility to recycle all recyclable materials such as: paper, plastics, cardboard, ink cartridges etc. Good housekeeping practices are essential as a preventative measure. If a spill occurs, Metal Coaters (Spill Response, Log and Report Procedure) must be followed.
