Purpose of the Position
As part of Sea-Bird's evolving Supply Chain organization, the Material Handler I ensures materials are received, processed, and put away accurately and efficiently. This role supports our operations by coordinating inventory control and receiving activities, handling materials safely, maintaining inventory accuracy, and helping the team meet on-time delivery and quality goals.
Essential Functions
Prepare and process outgoing shipments according to standard procedures, including paperwork, labeling, and carrier coordination.
Receive and inspect incoming shipments, ensuring accuracy and quality before routing items to the correct location.
Stock materials, track inventory movement, and maintain records within our ERP and warehouse systems.
Safely handle, package, and store materials-including fragile and sensitive instruments-to prevent damage.
Support compliance with all local, national, and international regulations, including export control and EHS standards.
Identify and escalate issues, contributing to continuous improvement and long-term solutions.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace.
Work occasional overtime or alternate shifts as needed to meet team goals.
Demonstrate a positive, team-oriented attitude and willingness to help others succeed.
Basic Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
2+ years of experience in shipping, receiving, or material handling.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Basic computer skills and familiarity with shipping or warehouse management software.
Understanding of proper PPE use and safe handling practices.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with packaging fragile or sensitive equipment.
Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent).
Knowledge of shipping Dangerous Goods regulations.
Familiarity with Lean or continuous improvement principles.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Experience coordinating domestic and international shipments through UPS, FedEx, DHL, or freight forwarders.
Proven ability to follow and help refine standard work processes.
Knowledge of import/export compliance or hazardous materials (e.g., lithium batteries) is a plus.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. unassisted and up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
Good visual acuity and manual dexterity for handling small components.
Must be able to safely operate material handling equipment and wear required PPE, including steel-toe shoes.
Work Environment
Work performed in a manufacturing and warehouse environment with occasional exposure to noise, mechanical equipment, and environmental factors such as dust, fumes, and temperature variation.

POSITION SUMMARY
We are currently seeking a Raw Materials Handler - Shear. The Handler is responsible for performing Receiving, Delivery and Inventory daily departmental activities. This position is also responsible for all aspects of assisting the production operations. In all actions, supports Sonaca's Quality Policy, Mission Statement and other Sonaca policies and procedures by supporting our commitment to total customer satisfaction, quality products and services, lean processes, continuous improvement, on-time delivery, safety, teaming, individual accountability and respect for people.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform Receiving, Delivery and Inventory daily departmental activities
Perform and operate shear machine to deliver raw material
Follow all applicable SP's, QAP's, and procedures
Load/ Unload trucks using fork truck, pallet jack, and/or hand truck as needed and according to all safety regulations
Unpack crates and boxes, check items for accuracy and damage and document accordingly
Accurately process all Jobscope system transactions related to Receiving, and bin transferring
Assist with production operations as needed; includes roll-forming skin panels
Assist with maintenance Receiving files
Monitor and revise weekly I50 report
Assist with production operations as needed
Perform Lean and 6S functions
Assist in investigation / determination of the root cause of errors/issues and implementation of corrective action
Participate in ergonomic exercises
Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCES
High school diploma or high school equivalency preferred. Candidates that do not have a high school diploma or high school equivalency will be required to take a pre-employment assessment to be considered for the role.
One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be able to complete all job duties and interact with all employees, customers, vendors, and others in a manner consistent with Sonaca values and principles.
Ability to be trained in and acquire Sonaca Forklift License, Current Valid Driver's License with no major traffic violations within the previous three years, Excellent Background/ Ability to be issued security clearance for any/all customer delivery sites (includes GAC access badge for on-site delivery).
Demonstrate working knowledge of Database software; Internet software and Spreadsheet software; Must be able to use Outlook; AS400 a plus.
Ability to effectively perform various production, material handling, tasks requiring physical strength and dexterity.
Ability to read and interpret basic work order instructions and other drawings to accurately produce and assemble kits.
Ability to operate fork trucks, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment, with the ability and willingness to learn and complete other tasks as needed.
Excellent organizational skills and the discipline to maintain organizational systems and keep all work areas neat and clean.
Must communicate and interact with all employees, customers, vendors and others in a courteous, professional manner.
Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities with frequent period of high stress.
