The Role

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Evaluate potential storage solutions, perform proofs-of-concept, and select solutions to be deployed in our enterprise.
* Lead multiple projects for the storage engineering team, particularly those that require highly complex or innovative technical solutions.
* Handle P1 escalations and provide additional L3 coverage when required.

GDIT has an opening for a Storage Administrator position supporting the Army National Guard (ARNG) in Falls Church, VA. This is an IT Service Management contract in support of the operation, modernization, expansion, and further evolution of the ARNG's global Information Technology (IT) services including networking, compute, storage, infrastructure, applications, hosting, and program management services. The GECOS program supports the ARNG enterprise IT infrastructure, its Wide Area Network (WAN), authentication and directory services, cybersecurity, application hosting, and associated services. GECOS uses ITIL best practices framework as the basis for IT Service Management (ITSM) model.

The Storage Administrator will:

  • Supports the full life cycle of enterprise environment providing mission-critical services to ARNG.

  • Installs, maintains, and improves system configurations and solutions, as well as monitoring and auditing system utilization, performance, and problems.

  • Provides full life cycle storage area network (SAN) administration, architecture, and support including storage utilization/capacity planning and adjusting storage requirements.

  • Performs data migration tasks from direct attached storage and within SAN environments.

  • Designs modifications and changes to the SAN infrastructure and assists in the implementation and documentation of all configuration changes.

  • Evaluates new technologies and architecting solutions.

  • Performs daily Storage Engineer activities including management, zoning, provisioning, troubleshooting, and debugging.

  • Uses storage management tools to discover, monitor, provision, and report on the storage infrastructure.

  • Participates in root cause analysis for significant problems and suggests clear recommendations for improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years managing enterprise storage environment

  • Possess the appropriate baseline certifications to achieve DoD 8570.01-M Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II (CompTIA Security+ or higher)

  • Possess the appropriate computing environment certifications to achieve DoD 8570.01-M Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II

  • Strong knowledge for Windows and VMWare

  • An active SECRET DoD clearance
