Duties and Responsibilities : Build out a successful team and oversee/manage controls department personnel: sales executives, project managers, service personnel, installers, applications engineers, GUI/graphical designer. Evaluate individual roles, aptitudes, and compensation; identify training needs for field personnel. Ensure control team dispatch is completed pro-actively. Develop and implement operational SOPs for the department. Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, general contractors, vendors, and suppliers. Hold monthly meetings covering open projects, repairs, maintenance, and service, and review accomplishments, planning, and future goals. Participate in the search and selection of project opportunities to feed the sales pipeline. Attend pre-bid meetings; review plans and specifications for opportunity qualification; and determine scope of work and required contents of estimate. Solicit subcontractor bids and vendor quotes; evaluate subcontractor/vendor bids of for completeness of scope of work, schedule, and compliance with bid specifications; negotiate pricing. Develop and review designs, estimates, and proposals for both plan-and-spec, design-assist, and design-build controls projects; ensure accuracy of estimates and adherence to profitability targets. Ensure proper opportunity logging within company's Salesforce CRM; monitor/track win/loss data; conduct post-mortem analyses. Qualify, review, and oversee subcontractors, including developing selection criteria; ensuring compliance with prime contracts; obtaining insurance, W9, and other documentation; and executing formal Subcontract Agreements. Oversee programming/sequence of operations for Tridium and Siemens (Desigo) systems; assist with general designs as needed. Oversee internal control panel fabrication and UL-508A panel shop functionality as needed. Lead and/or participate in discussions and meetings with owners, general contractors, engineers, to promote the specification (as basis of design) for the company's control offerings (Siemens/Desigo) Oversee and approve all purchasing for the department, including PC/cellular requirements for staff; inventory, stock for spare parts, and panel shop stock; and ensure financial budgeting plans are followed (in coordination with President and Controller). Oversee control department time and materials (T&M) work, quoted service calls / repairs; review outbound invoices for accuracy; verify that follow-up repair quotes are generated, and work carried out in timely manner; ensure prompt closure and invoicing. Verify proper execution of controls department preventative maintenance agreements: Assist in renewal/financial performance review process; ensure scheduling and handling of contracted work; ensure efficient use of manpower; prepare and/or review maintenance contract proposals, as needed. Develop system for assessing and maintaining high customer satisfaction; meet with customers and manage/mitigate any customer concerns. Requirements : Candidates must be detail-oriented, and possess strong leadership qualities Minimum 5 years' experience in ATC / BAS / BMS / direct digital controls estimating for both design-build and plan/spec construction projects. Demonstrate experience in estimating past projects sizes up to $2 million Ability to understand MEP and controls system designs/plans and specifications, as well as familiarity with a variety of HVAC systems and terminology. Ability to generate and interpret technical documentation including CAD drawings, sketches, specifications, sequence of operations documentation, submittals, etc. Individual shall be dedicated, self-motivated with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to prioritize and work both independently as well as in a team atmosphere. Ability to effectively interact with customers, field personnel, sales, and office support staff. Four-year mechanical engineering or similar degree is preferred. Tridium Niagara and Siemens Desigo CC / Desigo Optic experience is a plus. Ability to consistently set goals and meet deadlines.
