Job Description:
Client is seeking a seasoned sensor design engineer to conceive, develop, prototype and deploy data-collection systems at scale. These systems will collect information about Client's products which will be used by machine learning/machine vision systems to guide robotic manipulation of objects, among other applications. These data collection systems will be installed into various facilities across the Client network to capture the types and quantity of data needed to automate processes. Our team collaborates machine learning scientists, fulfillment associates, labeling teams, field engineering and maintenance personnel and with a variety of customers across Client worldwide.
The ideal individual will be comfortable with designing camera/optical systems of all types, understanding critical optical technologies such as lens specification, aberrations, calibration, color balance, aperture, exposure, gain, motion-induced blur, lighting, etc. Experience exploring other active and passive sensing modalities such as structured light, stereo, lidar, radar, x-ray, infrared, RFID is a plus. Experience with industrial measurement such as bar-code extraction, text extraction, dimensioning, and weight, in a manufacturing environment that includes automated conveyance and related safety controls.
You should be comfortable engaging with all types of customers ranging from executives to developers, and warehouse operations staff. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where delivery time for new products and features is typically measured in months. You are a self-starter with a commitment to team work, who enjoys working with complex hardware and software systems, is customer centric, and thrives on the challenge of helping scientists as well as non-technical customers to achieve their goals.

You must take into account such requirements as wire supports and brackets, separation to maintain physical and functional safety, proper parts selection, as well as environmental impacts on the many parts that make up the system of wire harnesses. All while ensuring that Safety and Quality are the number 1 priority.
You will also develop and analyze engineering design disposition on discrepancies (e.g., rejection tags, production action requests and shop revision requests). This often involves working closely and collaborating with our partners on the factory floor to ensure our designs can be built efficiently and safely.
You will follow and look for improvements to documented processes, specifications and procedures that support safe and quality design and manufacture of electrical commodities. You will develop basic statements of work. Also, participate in technical reviews of supplier capabilities to facilitate source selection. You will analyze functional and physical requirements to assure the development of integrated designs and system architecture. Actively supporting critical analysis and design reviews.
You will work with and under general supervision of a lead engineer and an experienced mentor to enhance both your technical learning and career growth.

PSE focal and leader for OT-related Command Media, Boeing Enterprise Design Practices, Standards and Technologies related to Operational Technology, and ensure the implementation and tailoring across the enterprise OT environments
Member of PSE Tech Board, representing enterprise operational technology
In addition to the PSE OT Technical Chief Engineer role, as an engineering leader in PSE, this role is expected to:
Support PSE functional office priorities and special assignments at the direction of functional office leadership
Lead and contribute to select design practices for the functional office
Support enterprise special issue response and vulnerability concerns as part of expert call-tree for the functional office
Supporting workforce strategy and training special assignments for the functional office
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
8+ years of experience in a role that required teaming and collaboration skills, and ability to work well with a geographically dispersed cross-functional and matrix team
2+ years of experience leading a team and/or technical project

What will you work on?

The anticipated pay range for candidates who will work in California is $85,000 to $90,000 Per Annum. The Product DevelopmentEngineer will work within the Design Engineering group to create new products for the Power Switching Division as well as provide support for existing products. This will include interpreting standards and performing development tests on new and existing high-voltage interrupters, mechanisms, control systems, and other projects based on customer needs.
Essential Responsibilities:
Develop new high-voltage interrupters, mechanisms, and controls based on project specifications.
Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for Southern States products using SolidWorks.
Assist Manufacturing, Marketing, Sales, and After-sales on projects in the areas of problem resolution, quality assurance, fit and finish, testing, and coordination.
Develop, conduct, and document Quality and Type tests.
Write assembly instructions, instruction books, and other quality documents.
Must be willing to occasionally travel, domestically and internationally, (5-10% of time) to customer sites and test labs.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or a related field of study.
Experience: 7+ years of experience with product development.
Complete knowledge of the Southern States product line.

Primary responsibilities:
Design, models, integrates, and tests optical sensor systems including visible and IR cameras, LIDAR systems, and optical test equipment.
Develops software for the purpose of testing and automating test procedures.
Works in conjunction with systems engineers, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers and software engineers to provide integrated design solutions for Arete's customers.
