About the Team
Invenergy's transmission team pushes the boundaries of transmission design and capability. The team solves complex technical challenges to achieve sustainable and economical interconnection solutions that integrate new generation technologies to the grid. With over 100 projects in late-stage development, construction and operation, our transmission team oversees several hundred interconnection requests and has successfully interconnected over 16,000 MW and 400 miles of transmission to the grid.
Position Overview
The Transmission Engineer will perform technical analysis to assist in the interconnection process for the different generation projects. Based out of Invenergy's downtown Chicago headquarters, the Transmission Engineer will also be responsible for assisting in other transmission associated activities and analysis, including interpreting the different market rules as they apply to the interconnection process.
Responsibilities
+ Perform power flow analysis as part of generation development activities
+ Provide transmission system and congestion evaluation, to assist in development activities
+ Review utility expansion plans to identify potential opportunities
+ Assist in preparation of Generation Interconnection Requests
+ Assist in review utility interconnection studies (feasibility, impact, and facility).
+ Assist in development of conceptual design of interconnection facilities and costs
+ Assist in conceptual design of wind farm and solar electrical collection systems (34.5kV), substations (34.5kV - transmission voltage 115kV - 230kV - 345kV), and project owned transmission lines
+ Provide assistance during project design and construction for interconnection related issues
+ Participate in various industry groups dealing with interconnection and market issues
Required Skills
+ 0-2 years of experience in transmission system planning and operations including power flow, short circuit, and stability.
+ BS or MS in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power systems
+ Knowledge of FERC and NERC standards related to transmission and interconnections, including Open Access Transmission Tariff (OATT) a plus.
+ Use of power flow software such as PSS/E, PowerWorld or similar a plus.
+ Proficiency in spreadsheet modeling using Microsoft Excel
+ Verbal and written communication skills
