Reviews and interprets relevant codes, standards, drawings, specifications, technical manuals, peer-reviewed literature, data logs, and other documentation to evaluate the compliance of the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of the subject product, equipment, or system. Conducts various analyses, including, but not limited to, industrial safety and accidents; equipment and machinery design and failure; product liability; and design and safety. Provides support on fire and explosion investigations involving mechanical systems, products, and equipment. Initiates, develops, and maintains mutually beneficial client relationships. Required Education and Certifications B.S. Mechanical Engineering degree or higher. Ph.D. or Forensic experience with P.E. required. 2-10+ years of experience, including knowledge of products, machine design, HVAC, plumbing, fire suppression systems, and/or other mechanical equipment/systems/processes. Reports directly to the System Engineering Manager. Responsible for the technical support of centrifuge manufacturing and support equipment. Serves as the subject matter expert for assigned systems and components and provides an interface between Engineering and centrifuge manufacturing departments. Job Description The Mechanical Design Engineer provides expertise and technical support to machining, fabrication, and assembly teams. In addition to developing robust processes for new products, this position will deploy structured problem-solving methodologies to improve productivity, cost, quality, and delivery objectives for current products. This position requires a wide range of skills that include, but are not limited to; helping machinists reduce set-up and throughput times, documenting repeatable fabrication processes, developing efficient work cell layouts, evaluating supply partners, formalizing quality systems, and maintaining critical parameters in an ERP system.
