Summary of Position

The Graduate Engineer will work on structural engineering projects in all market sectors. They will work closely with the Project Manager or Department Manager to design and produce structural construction documents. Projects will vary in size, from small renovations to new buildings.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assist with design drawings, specifications, calculation packages, reports, and other project deliverables.
  • Perform structural analysis and design calculations for structural steel, concrete, wood, masonry, and other materials to complete project documents.
  • Coordinate and attend meetings with clients, consultants, owners, and internal staff members on projects.
  • Perform construction administration duties such as reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFIs, and site observations.
  • Produce drawings utilizing AutoCAD or Revit.
  • Projects will include new and existing structures for all market sectors noted on Baird Hampton Brown website.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Master of Science or Master of Engineering degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering is a plus.
  • Engineer in Training certification or plan to take the Fundamentals of Engineering exam within six months of hire.
  • Past internship or previous work experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work closely with an integrated multi-discipline team under tight deadlines and communicate clearly – both in writing and verbally.

**Position Purpose:**

+ Guides successful completion of major engineering programs, or conceives research in areas of considerable scope and complexity supporting the development and production of Gulfstream products and services.

**Principle Duties and Responsibilities:**

+ Selects appropriate methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to resolve complex engineering issues .

+ Is consulted extensively by associates and others as a recognized authority within the field .

+ Anticipates and resolves complex issues in creative and effective ways, developing standards and guides for diverse engineering activities .

+ Approach to problem solving balances technical product, cost and schedule .

+ Works without appreciable direction; work is reviewed from a long-range perspective for desired results .

+ Exercises latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments, and makes decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative .

**Additional Functions:**

**Education and Experience Requirements**

+ Experience should include creation and justification of engineering dispositions for nonconformances of composite and metallic, pressurized and non-pressurized aircraft structures. Gulfstream GV/G550 experience a plus.

+ Experience should include all components of the aircraft (Wing, Fuselage, Empennage).

+ Experience should be in a Production and/or schedule-driven environment. Supporting structural a/c modifications a plus.

+ Capability to analyze and rapidly design repairs based on equivalent strength/stiffness of surrounding structure while in a schedule driven environment.

+ Strong written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

+ Must be computer literate (such as, but not limited to: Catia V5, Solumina, SmarTeam, Corridor, Word, Excel).

+ Mon- Thurs position. Typically 4X10 work schedule. Occasional overtime possible.
