West Hartford Public Schools seeks to fill a position for a full-time Student Activities, College Career Center, Mastery Experience Coordinator at Hall High School. Candidate must be flexible, patient and detail oriented. The basic calendar work year is 200 days. Work schedule is 37.5 hours per week.
Requirement: High school education or GED.

Qualifications:

* Ability to independently handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.
* Strong computer skills, including EXCEL.
* Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

Duties: Duties for this position include but are not limited to the following:

* Coordinate and schedule non-athletic events and activities.
* Assist advisors/sponsors with all non-athletic student activities as needed.
* Coordinate with local media for press coverage/press releases and story ideas.
* Maintain listings of employment and volunteer opportunities.
* Coordinate Academic Awards and Scholarship Program.
* Schedule and meet with college representatives.
* Maintain SAT and ACT paperwork and assist with online registration.
* Understand and be able to communicate the goals and individual student progress of the Mastery Experience credit to all stakeholders effectively.
* Liaison with the Office of Curriculum to implement the program effectively while striving for continuous improvement.
* Manage all components of the Mastery Experience including Google Classrooms and the Mastery Experience webpage.
* Organize a yearly Mastery Experience Showcase event to share the program success and educate the community about the program.
* Other duties as assigned by the principal.
* Attendance at after-school meetings, some evenings required.

Salary range is from $32,000 - $41,000, depending on experience.

Position Summary

Student Activities Coordinators lead, plan, and coordinate activities and programs for students in elementary, middle, and highschool on campus that will enrich and enhance the student's overall experience. This position will work in coordination with our Student Support Specialists to engage students in afterschool activities and tutoring.


This is a part-time position expected to work around 20 hours per week in the afternoons, Monday-Friday, September 2022 through June 2023.


Salary

$19.00 - 21.00/hour, depending on experience

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and staff activities and events after appropriate planning and development.
  • Promote extracurricular athletic, scholastic, and other activities that foster skill development, understanding of competitive activities and teamwork that appeal to a diverse student population.
  • Supervise and evaluate the success of student activities, afterschool programming, and other events and confer frequently with supervisor on student activity matters.
  • Assist Student Support Specialists with tutoring as needed.
  • Work with SPACE Agents on various schools and other special assignments as assigned by the administration and/or the supervisor.
  • Supervise groups of students and model appropriate behavior. Develop and enforce appropriate rules for student conduct when taking place in extracurricular activities.



Abilities, Skills, & Experience

  • Previous experience as an afterschool program teacher, camp counselor, or related position preferred.
  • Knowledge of & experience with technology and troubleshooting skills required. Google Suite experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; good organization/ planning skills.
  • Ability to create, promote, and support student activities for a diverse student population in multiple schools in the St. Cloud area.
  • Required Language: English.
  • Preferred Language(s): Somali, Swahili, Arabic, or another African language.


Education Requirements

  • REQUIRED: High school diploma and capacity to tutor high school level coursework
  • PREFERRED : Associate degree, B.A., or equivalent experience


Work Environment & Location

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit (at times on the floor with children) and reach with hands and arms. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Frequent use of keyboard, monitor, mouse, telephone and/or headset
  • Use of a personal vehicle with reimbursement will be required.
  • Work locations in St. Cloud, MN.
