Teacher Assistants are active participants in the Teacher Mentorship Program (see the Mentorship Program Policy). The mentor provides guidance, support and training to the mentee, helping them develop their skills and knowledge in a particular subject matter. EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS / COMPETENCIES: Must possess a related certification (e.g., RVT, RDCS, RDMS, CCI, ARRT, MRI/ARRT/ARMRIT) and/or SPI. Must be working in a related field. The Teacher Assistant (TA) must earn at least four years of practical work experience in the field to be eligible to teach as a faculty member. An associate's and/or bachelor's degree is preferred but not required when the TA begins participating in the mentorship program. If the TA does not have the appropriate degree upon beginning the program, the TA must earn the degree to be eligible to teach as a faculty member. The TA must complete training on campus two weeks before starting the mentorship program. Must have strong technical skills, including all computer applications, internet research, database management, and analytical skills. Experience with Canvas or related LMS usage for instruction (assignments, quizzes, discussion boards, gradebook, modules) is preferred. OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the direct supervision of the Program Director (or assigned faculty): Provides help or tutoring sessions and proctor exams. Leads student discussions and unifying reviews. and help in laboratory sessions. Assists faculty in setting up equipment for lectures, labs or discussions. Provides one-on-one or small group tutoring and academic assistance to students as needed. Assists students with questions and provides constructive feedback. Demonstrates respect, support, and empathy towards students, acknowledging and validating their diverse personal differences and educational needs. Serves as a role model for students. Follows the daily lesson plans as dictated by the curriculum and ensuring that all syllabus and course outline are followed. Uses chat to answer student's questions during the online lecture. Participates in scheduled events, department meetings, and training sessions as required. Performs additional duties as assigned by the Campus Director, Director of Education, and Program Director.
