This position reports to Circulation Staff and as well as the Access Services Manager. Students are employed fall and spring semesters and have the opportunity to work summer semesters. Student assistants can also choose to work when the library is open during fall, winter, and spring breaks. The first semester of employment as a library student assistant is on an on-call basis, filling in for shifts as they open. Assistants will sign up for a permanent weekly schedule their second semester,
Library student employees take shifts at the Service Desk, shelve and shelf-read the collection on the lower level, process incoming and outgoing book requests, and answer questions about the library both in person and over the phone. Training is provided in applicable library processes and software through face-to-face instruction, weekly reminders, and online tutorials to ensure that students are successful in their assigned tasks. We will train you to become familiar with the layout and workings of the library.

Minimum Qualifications
* Strong communication skills; represent the library in a professional and courteous manner.
* Customer Service Skills or alternate relevant experience working with the public.
* Ability to be punctual and consistently work a set schedule selected by student. Hours chosen may take place outside of normal office hours.
Preferred Qualifications
* Knowledge of how a library works or prior use of a library.
* Aptitude for learning technology quickly.

Position Summary:
As a Student Ambassador for The Script Internship Program at the University of Portland, you'll be a key member of our outreach and recruitment team, helping expand access to professional opportunities for underrepresented college students. Reporting to The Contingent's Headquarters Coordinator, you'll work closely with staff and fellow ambassadors to promote the program on your campus through events, presentations, and social media.
This role is ideal for someone who is outgoing, organized, and passionate about equity in education. You'll build relationships with student groups, faculty, and career services, while encouraging at least 30 students from underrepresented backgrounds to apply for the program.
Ambassadors will participate in 3-5 recruitment activities between October 2025 and January 2026, and post monthly on Instagram and LinkedIn to boost visibility. Duties & Responsibilities:
Recruitment Event Participation:
Actively take part in 3-5 activities/ events on campus between October 2025 and January 2026. Including career fairs, university club events, etc.
Track attendance and engagement at each event (e.g., number of students spoken to, materials distributed).
Post your activity on social media.
Application Encouragement:
Encourage at least 30 students from under-represented communities to complete an application, to apply for The Script internship program by January 30, 2026.
Maintain a log of students contacted and follow up to confirm submitted applications.
Receive bonus compensation for every application above the required 30 (maximum of 10)
Social Media Promotion:
Post once per month on both Instagram and LinkedIn between October 2025 and January 2026 to promote the program.
Share links to posts or screenshots to Headquarters Coordinator for tracking.
The Script team can provide templates.
Monthly Coordination & Reporting:
Participate in monthly check-ins with Headquarters Coordinator to coordinate recruitment strategies, share feedback, and discuss any roadblocks.
Submit a short monthly report summarizing outreach efforts, student feedback, and progress toward goals.
Meetings and reports due by the last Friday of each month from October through January.
Requirements:
Currently an undergraduate student, Freshman-Senior at the University of Portland.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge:
Understanding of campus culture.
Awareness of issues impacting underrepresented students.
Familiarity with Instagram and LinkedIn and basic content creation strategies.
Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills for presenting, networking, and outreach.
Event coordination and basic public speaking experience, especially in a student or peer-led setting.
Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines across multiple tasks.
Basic data tracking and reporting skills (e.g., using spreadsheets or forms to log outreach efforts).

Compensation:
Base pay: $500 (pro-rated starting in mid-October) + Bonus.
$125 paid monthly for 4 months (October 2025 - January 2026).

Bonus opportunity - Earn $15 per completed application above the 30 required applications.
Maximum bonus: 10 additional applications, determined by referral source on application.
Bonus will be calculated at the end of the contract (January 2026) and will be included in the final payment.
Maximum amount possible to earn - $650

The International Student Ambassador serves as a key member of the LCC International Programs Office, supporting various functions. The Ambassador's primary responsibility includes international marketing and recruitment, and campus internationalization. The Ambassador will report to the Director of International Programs.
Schedule
This position is five hours per week during the academic quarter. Working hours will occur during campus business hours (Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm) and will be scheduled around your student class and co-curricular schedule. This position will start in Winter 2026. Based on mutual agreement, this position may be extended through Spring 2026
* Create marketing materials and shareable assets such as flyers, brochures, and media content.
* Co-create and manage social media content including posts, videos, and reels.
* Write blog posts in English, and in native language(s), documenting international student life.
* Collaborate with the Director and peer Ambassadors for topic ideas and schedule.
* Share your international student experience in quarterly webinars with the Director.
* Support campus internationalization efforts, including International Education Week.
* Engage in student activities, and support peers with cultural adjustment and extracurricular activities. Contribute to the office's operations, and perform other duties as assigned.
* Must be a current international student enrolled at Lower Columbia College.
* Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills in English.
* Comfortable engaging with peers and talking to members of the LCC campus community.

Preferred Qualifications:
* Familiarity with marketing, recruitment, or digital design.
