For over 20 years we ve been building up a national network of low-cost veterinary clinics, strategically located in underserved communities. Inaccessibility of veterinary care has deep and tangled roots in other complex social problems like poverty, racism, and economic inequality. Our clinics aim to transform communities into places where no one ever has to forego veterinary care because the cost is out of reach.
Dates and Locations:
There are no application windows; you can apply at any time. Please specify the desired dates of your externship as well as which city (Austin, Houston, Philadelphia) you would like to visit.
Our clinics:
All clinics run a Healthy Pet Service Module (physical exams, vaccines, heartworm testing, FeLV/FIV testing, microchipping, deworming, prevention) and a Spay/Neuter Module (HQHVSN surgery ~30 patients a day). Some clinics also run additional modules such as Skin and Ears (Houston), Special Surgery (Central Austin), Dentistry (Central Austin), and Heartworm Treatment (Houston East End, Central Austin).
Student Experience:
You will be paired with a veterinarian each day shadowing in a specific module. Depending on your knowledge and previous experience, you may be allowed to perform venipuncture, IVC placement, intubation, IV induction, surgical prep, anesthetic monitoring, and post operative monitoring. At this time, all surgeries are performed on client owned animals. Therefore, we do not allow students to perform surgery. We are actively looking to establish community partnerships with shelters/rescues in hopes of incorporating surgical experience into the student extern experience in the future.
There may also be an opportunity for you to shadow our Chief Medical Officer, Senior Medical Director, and/or Veterinarian Trainer to introduce you to the non-clinical operational responsibilities of our veterinarians in leadership positions. Shadowing of these veterinarians will be primarily available in Austin.

ABOUT THE EXTERNSHIP
VEG's Veterinary Technician/Nursing Student Externship Program gives vet tech/nursing students hands-on experience in emergency medicine while working alongside our credentialed, emergency veterinary technicians. Students will focus on honing their emergency skills including obtaining patient vitals, processing laboratory samples, caring for hospitalized patients, triaging emerging cases, and collaborating in a fast-paced environment. If you're as interested in emergency medicine as we are, we'd love to have you!
Note: Unless you are already employed by us, this is an unpaid externship. Rabies vaccinations are required for all externs (even if you are already employed by us) since you may be handling pets with an unknown rabies vaccination status.
Flexibility: YOU Choose the length of your externship to meet your school's requirements
Location: YOU choose where you'd like to extern (depending on hospital bandwidth)
Mentorship: YOU will be supported by a credentialed veterinary technician

REQUIREMENTS
Currently enrolled in an AVMA CVTEA accredited veterinary technology or veterinary nursing program (or one actively seeking accreditation) and will be in a class that requires externship hours and/or skills. Your externship must need to begin within 6 months of application.

POSITION SUMMARY:
As part of the Transwestern Trailblazer Internship Program, the Brokerage Summer Intern will participate in a comprehensive 8-week internship program designed to incorporate all facets of commercial real estate, alongside a talented group of professionals. The summer intern will gain valuable insight into the commercial real estate industry while being exposed to multiple lines of business over the course of the summer. The goal of the summer internship program is to provide a strong foundation to accelerate the intern's commercial real estate career.
This internship is designed for rising seniors, working towards a bachelor's degree with emphasis in real estate, business management or related field. This is a full-time, in-person internship based in Austin. Relocation assistance and housing are not provided.
This internship offers the potential for conversion to a full-time position based on performance and business needs.
POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Exposure to each line of business, including agency leasing, development, investment services, property and facility management and tenant advisory services.
* Work on a combination of individual and group projects.
* Participate in coursework, including research and leasing classes.
* Assist with senior level brokerage services/real estate professionals in developing relationships and serving the needs of clients.
* Learn how to canvass an office submarket.
* Learn how to use CoStar & LoopNet.
* Create property analysis, edit proposals and RFPs, and client presentations.
* Research tenants and landlords for specific submarkets.
* Participate in team meetings.
* Utilize company systems to conduct research and clean-up projects.
* Attend commercial real estate industry events.
* Assist with departmental filing and tracking systems.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
* This is a full-time, in-person internship
* Rising Senior, working towards a bachelor's degree with emphasis in real estate, business management or related field.
* Minimum GPA: 3.0 on a 4.0
* Internship experience in Commercial Real Estate a plus but not necessary.
* Demonstrate financial analytical and quantitative skill.
* Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret documents.
* Ability to effectively present information.
* Ability to provide general direction/be self-managed/work independently.

Essential Functions
Ensure the safety of all campers during their stay at Girl Scouts of Central Texas camps by following all policies, procedures, and protocols.
Assistin the direction, supervision, and organization of campers, within activities and throughout campin order tomeet the intended camper outcomes.
Participate in the implementation of program activities for campers within the mission and outcomes.
Maintains high standards of health and safety in all activities for campers and staff in accordance to Health Department regulations, GSUSA Safety Activity Checkpoints, and GSCTX policy and procedures.

Grows and develops staff in unit to continuously improve the camp experience.
Plans, leads, and participates in all camper activities.
Performs check in and check out duties enthusiastically, ensuring parents feel secure in their camper staying at camp.
Creating acampatmosphere where every camper is safe, has fun, and feelswell likedby peers and staff.
Encourages girl led programming beyond listed programming in the camp guide.
Work with and teach children age six through seventeen.
Maintains effective working relationships with staff and creating harmonious relationships with campers, parents, and staff.
Managing camper behavior, enforcing appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and applying appropriate behavior-management techniques.
