Acute Care Clinical Extern Job Responsibilities * Assists with admissions, discharges, hygiene, feeding, and mobility. * Responds to call lights and supports daily patient needs. * Takes and records vital signs, weights, and intake/output. * Performs skin and wound care, catheter care, and specimen collection. * Assists with procedures (e.g., glucose checks, EKGs, IVs, NG suction). * Follows isolation and emergency protocols, including CPR and Code Blue. * Maintains clean, organized patient and work areas. * Transports patients and equipment; restocks supplies. * Reports patient concerns and equipment issues. * Completes assigned tasks and contributes to department effectiveness. What You Bring You bring knowledge of basic nursing assessments, care plans, and procedures. You understand equipment and techniques used in assigned clinical areas. You use analytical thinking to apply learned skills in new situations. You build effective relationships with patients, staff, and physicians. You communicates clearly in writing and speech and maintain a professional, courteous, and caring demeanor. You have stamina for long periods of standing, walking, lifting, and CPR and fine motor skills for handling equipment and patient care tasks.
