As a Safety Intern, you will gain experience both in the office as well as in the field. The ideal student will be someone who is looking for experience in a construction environment who has a willingness to learn and a good work ethic that implies a strong sense of integrity. Daily direction will be given, but a strong self-driven attitude is encouraged. This position works with a variety of employees and will require a positive team-driven attitude What You'll Do: As a Safety intern, you'll Assists in efforts in the creation of Site-Specific Safety Plans. Coordinate with the project team to establish a safe working environment. Attend all-hands site safety meetings for assigned projects on a monthly (min) basis. Attend all project foreman s meetings to voice safety topics/concerns between the monthly all-hands meetings. Assist in client-sponsored safety meetings/training. Assist with safety permits (Hot work, LOTO, Trenching, Confined Space Etc.) Assist in planning all high-risk activities. Review crane pick plans, confined space entry plans, etc. Conduct weekly (min) Site Safety Audit. Ensure subcontractors follow procedure, OSHA, state, and site-specific regulations. Assist Safety Manager, as necessary. Collect/record data and pertinent information. Attend Foreman coordination meetings. Review Incident Reports, Safety Policy, Crane Picks, JHA s, Permits, Audits. What You Bring: Degree in Safety Management or similar degree program Must have completed at least 2 years of their education Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products Ability to work in fast pace situations while maintaining focus Desire to work in a team environment Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate with all levels of an organization Previous internships are a definite plus, but not required Physical Requirements: Ability to sit, stand, climb, and work on active construction sites for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Comfort working at heights using ladders, scaffolds, or stairs. Travel: This position requires travel to job sites in the KS and MO area with potential travel to other states as needed.
