Job Responsibilities: * Prepare annual, perennial, and vegetable garden beds for planting; * Weed and water gardens; * Maintain hoop house structure and plantings; * Utilize and maintain a variety of equipment used in gardening and landscaping; * Harvest garden vegetables; * Maintain LPTC Extension facilities; * Assist with record keeping and program marketing; * Assist with educational workshops. Requirements/Qualifications: * Must currently be enrolled in classes at LPTC; * Must be seeking a degree in Environmental Science or Diversified Ag * Must be in good academic standing; * Have a genuine interest in agriculture, natural resources, or sustainable lifestyles; * Excellent attention to detail; * Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills; * Experience safely operating garden machinery; * Knowledgeable of computers, word processing, and data collection; * Knowledgeable of landscape and greenhouse management preferred but not required; * Experience in carpentry or construction is helpful but not required; * Must be reliable and adhere to work schedule; * Ability to work as part of a team and independently at multiple locations; * Be willing to participate in staff development training and workshops as directed; * Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors for extended lengths of time and in all weather conditions; * Possess a valid driver's license and be able to be covered by the Tribes insurance * Pass a pre-employment drug screening; * Pass a background screening.
