This position entails long strenuous days monitoring vegetation in the heat, data entry and management, and a self-directed research project pertaining to riparian restoration. Qualifications
Qualifications: Intern must be a student pursuant of a degree in biology, natural resources or related fields. Must be eligible to work in the United States with a valid driver's license. Turning Point Community Programs (TPCP) strives to prepare competent social workers, therapists, psychologists, and others who can both lead and serve the richly diverse region in the development and delivery of services that contribute to human well-being and social justice. Towards this end, TPCP offers a high-quality TPCP Internship Program (TIP) that serves the needs of over 100 interns and trainees (referred to as “interns” for the remainder of this document) per year from the 110 different universities from which we are affiliated. TPCP has placement opportunities in over 50 programs with sites in 10 California counties. What sets TPCP apart, is the richness of the diversity of experiences in environments where the tone is of hope, optimism and enthusiasm as each intern moves towards their learning goals in their professional development.
TPCP's goal is to structure an internship program that is exemplary, well-organized and a comprehensive experience for students. Each site structures an internship experience to best meet the needs of the students via a tailored description of their program and the service recipients' service provision.
Interns come to TPCP at different stages in their professional development from their university programs. In addition to social workers and therapists, TPCP also accepts Medical Students/Residents, Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nutrition interns and interns with placement requirements from the fields of psychology, sociology and anthropology. We support interns at our Administrative Site in the Fiscal, Human Resources, IT, Communication, and Research Departments. Based on their level of experience, each intern receives structured, weekly clinical supervision supported by an examination of the theoretical and empirical literature which includes:

Placement Opportunities:
Winemaking Interns assist with production winemaking at the commercial scale at one of our wineries in Modesto, Fresno, Livingston or Lodi, CA.
Research Winemaking Interns assist with the production of small-lots - with volumes ranging from 10-gallons to 1,000-gallons - at either Modesto, Livingston, or Healdsburg, CA.
Spirits Distillation Interns assist with the commercial production of brandy, whiskey, rum, flavored vodkas, hard seltzers, and other spirits at either Modesto, Livingston, or Fresno, CA.
WINEMAKING
Locations: Modesto, Fresno, Livingston and Lodi, CA.
Interns will work and learn from winemakers responsible for the production of table wines, sparkling wines, flavored wines and other beverages.
What You Will Do:
* Participate in product evaluations and trials including, but not limited to, sample acquisition, production practices and fermentation monitoring.

* Perform fining, blending and other winemaking trials.

RESEARCH WINEMAKING
Location: Modesto, Livingston, and Healdsburg, CA
Interns will assist in all aspects of small-lot wine production in our Modesto (10-gallon scale), Livingston (600-gallon scale), or Healdsburg (600-gallon scale) research wineries, which produce over 500 table, sparkling and dessert wines per season. Interns work hands-on - from grape crush to bottling - in every step of the winemaking process. Our facilities support statewide research programs and allow interns to produce wines from grapes grown in many different winegrowing regions of California. Interns will also gain experience in producing a wide variety of wine styles and types, including white & red table, and sparkling & dessert wines. Interns will also work with dozens of grape varieties and gain experience with a wide range of processing and winemaking methods.
What You Will Do:
* Grape receiving, crushing, and pressing.
* Fermentation monitoring, filtration, ingredient additions, and post-fermentation treatments.
* Assist with bench, pilot, and plant scale experiments, including recording and documenting data.

SPIRITS DISTILLATION
Location: Modesto, Livingston and Fresno, CA
This internship provides students with the opportunity to learn from experienced distillers producing a variety of spirits. Spirits-making is an area of rapid growth for Gallo and the environment is dynamic as we learn how to distill and craft new beverages.
What You Will Do:
* Manage bench-scale trials to problem solve current production issues.
* Evaluate process improvements in making and managing our spirits portfolio.
* Monitor fermentation and distillation facilities during harvest.

Analytical Lab: Given an opportunity to learn all the various lab procedures and should be able to identify wine specs for all the different varietals upon completion of this section. They will be required to pull tank samples which will aid in the learning of the tank farm.
Sanitation: The intern required to participate in the overall sanitation of the facility prior to the season. This gives an opportunity to learn the basics behind the process prior to the start of crush. The intern will work closely with the cellar employees during the completion of this process, which will help develop a good working relationship prior to the season.
Crush: During crush season the intern will be required to supervise all grape processing. This includes:
Ensuring that sanitation has been properly completed prior to the daily startup.
Responsible for the grape trucks from the test stand to the tanks. The intern will need to work closely with the crusher lead and operators to ensure nothing goes to the wrong tank.
Responsible for seeing that additions and circulations are completed on time and in the correct manner.
Responsible to see that tanks are drained/pressed at the right times based on directions from winemaking.
Participate in daily fermenter tasting and conduct tank walks twice per day.
Participate in and document all production scale winemaking trials.
There may be times when the intern may need to make decisions based on their winemaking knowledge. When doing this they need to use all the facts to support their decision
Upon the completion of crush, the intern will aid winemaking/cellar to ensure processing is conducted in the correct manner.
May be required to write work orders under the direction of the Winemaker.
Assist the winemaker and compliance in the process of closing completed work orders.
Stay up to date with all cellar processing.
Need to be able to answer questions about various states of processing when approached by others.
Participate in all benchtop trials as directed by winemaking (fining, blending, etc.)
Learn why and how each piece of equipment functions in the cellar. This will require that the intern spends time with each of the operators on the various pieces of equipment around the winery.

The Colorado State Forest Service (CSFS) is a service and outreach agency of the Warner College of Natural Resources (WCNR). The CSFS provides technical forestry assistance, wildfire mitigation expertise, and outreach and education to help landowners and communities achieve their forest management goals. Our mission is to achieve stewardship of Colorado's diverse forest environments for the benefit of present and future generations.
The Colorado State Forest Service partnered with the Warner College of Natural Resources at Colorado State University (CSU) in 2018 to develop the CSFS Internship Program that offers paid summer internships to undergraduate students. Intern positions provide students with in-depth learning and work experiences in natural resources. Internships include a 15-85% split between training for the student and hourly work for the CSFS, as defined below under "Duties and Responsibilities". Student interns prepare 2 written documents throughout their internship period to advance professional writing skills and encourage self-reflection. They also receive one-on-one mentoring and evaluations from their CSFS supervisor(s). A small professional development stipend will be made available to support costs/fees associated with trainings, workshops, conferences, and other applicable opportunities during the internship period. A housing stipend will be offered to interns to mitigate the cost of living in Colorado. There may be dorm-style housing available through Colorado Firecamp that is significantly cheaper than other options.
The position title of this internship is CSFS Salida Field Office Internship. This intern will be based out of the Salida Field Office (Salida, CO) in the CSFS Southwest Area and is directly supervised by Kellie Solis (Forester). The Salida Field Office is one of 18 field offices of the CSFS, and serves Lake and Chaffee counties. The CSFS office in Leadville is a satellite office of the Salida Field Office. This office is staffed by three Foresters, two Lead Foresters, a Supervisory Forester, a Seasonal Forester, an Accounting Technician, and the Southwest Area Manager. We are seeking student interns who are professional, self-directed, innovative, and energetic. * Complete planning steps for the RCPP program, including:
o Attend initial site visits with private landowners to gauge their interest and offer treatment options.
o Develop maps in ArcPro for the inventory.
o Collect inventory data using tools such as a compass, laser range finder, tablet, diameter tape, clinometer, increment borer, and calipers.
o Data acquisition and management in Excel, Access and FVS (Forest Vegetation Simulator).
o Write a forest management plan using the condensed RCPP template.
o Paint trees for removal where necessary (i.e. ponderosa pine stand).
o Lay out unit boundaries for harvest.
* Other anticipated tasks:
o Attend weekly and monthly staff calls, as well as bi-weekly and monthly calls with partners in the area such as NFF, USFS, and NRCS.
o Utilize GPS, tablets and phones to map and rate wildfire risk on occupied lots.
o Public interaction with landowners on factors affecting Home Ignition Zone by modifying the Defensible Space (≥100 ft around a home or building that has been treated to lower the fire risk).
o Assist adjacent field offices with project work.
o Attend monthly Tree Board meetings.
o Assist with projects other than RCPP (site visits, layout, administration).
o Assist with Lake County projects. This will introduce interns to forest management in lodgepole pine stands that are not as widespread in Chaffee County.
* Training opportunities may include but are not limited to: First Aid/CPR Certification, U.S. Forest Service training for identifying forest insects and disease, Forest Vegetation Simulator (FVS) training, S-130/190 classes, S-212, chipper operation experience, ATV/UTV training, and more.
* Work with supervisor(s) to prepare a summer work plan, set goals and learning objectives, and evaluate progress.
* Complete two professional writing assignments throughout the summer.
* Attend a mandatory 1.5-day orientation session on Monday, May 18, and Tuesday, May 19, 2026 either in person at the CSFS State Office on the Foothills Campus in Fort Collins, CO or virtually. There may also be optional First Aid/CPR courses offered that week regionally.
* Hourly internship duties will occur from May 26, 2026 through August 14, 2026.
Conditions of Employment:
* Housing stipends up to $1,500 are available for each student to support costs associated with rent and utilities for the duration of the internship.
* Small professional development stipends are available for each student to help with costs associated with conferences, workshops, trainings, etc.
* Student might be exposed to poisonous plants, biting stinging insects, and wildlife during field work.
* Ability to provide suitable work gear, including sturdy hiking boots, rain gear, sleeping bag, and other personal items related to camping and hiking.

* Undergraduate student pursuing a degree at a Colorado institution of higher education. Students can be any year or major.
* Students graduating in the spring of 2026 or later are eligible for an internship in the summer of 2026.

* Demonstrated career interest in forestry or natural resource fields.
* Must have a valid driver's license, the ability to obtain a driver's license, or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date.
