Position Overview

Core Competencies & Responsibilities
Brilla's Elementary School Math teachers are content experts who foster Math environments and mindsets where all scholars have access to grade level standards and demonstrate high levels of growth and achievement. The habits and practices that allow teachers' to drive outcomes include, but are not limited to:
Participating in ongoing professional development, including formal and informal observation and coaching cycles and daily intellectual prep meetings
Implementing looking at student work protocols, and data analysis practices and urgently responding to student data
Establishing and communicating standards and content-based objectives and regularly evaluating student progress toward mastery
Internalizing the provided curriculum, and teach rigorous, classically-inspired lessons that adhere with Brilla's ambitious student growth targets across one grade level of students (2-4)
Collaborating vertically with Math content teachers, and laterally with grade-level teachers
Partnering with families to nurture a home to school connection that fosters shared accountability for scholars' outcomes

Overview

Job Description
What You'll Do
The ultimate goal of the Lower Division Wellness and Movement (WAM) program is to have students become physically literate, life-long movement explorers. WAM lessons are designed to create purposeful and meaningful opportunities for movement exploration, creative expression, and close collaboration, while simultaneously teaching science, math, reading, writing, anatomy/physiology, and social emotional skills. Individual, partner and team activities incorporate elements of choice, allow students to set their own goals, build confidence, foster personal growth, encourage communication and allow students to build resilience. To promote the mind-body connection, students are often challenged to think deeply about the topics being discussed in class, both before and after engaging in a movement experience. Students share their learnings in individual and group projects, written assignments and class discussions.
In this role you will:
Lead project-based wellness and movement classes
Collaborate intensively with colleagues across the division and within the WAM team to develop innovative curricula and continually deepen student learning
Ensure that students achieve key learning outcomes, targeting instruction thoughtfully to address individual needs
Build a robust learning atmosphere that leads students to feel part of a rigorous and joyful learning community
Inspire trust and confidence among parents and families
Qualifications
What You'll Bring
Teachers in this department bring all or most of the following:
Experience teaching physical education and health (3+ years)
Strong knowledge base in exercise science and human physiology
Interest in teaching mindfulness, nutrition, and heath
Ability to teach in a variety of settings, including a gym, fitness studio and classroom
Strong speaking, listening and demonstrative skills in large group settings
A remarkable entrepreneurial drive, creativity and ability to bring new ideas to fruition
Intellectual curiosity and humility to continually grow in teaching practices
A strong sense of personal responsibility for the success of every student
Ability to solve problems quickly and remain calm under pressure
Bachelor's degree in related field
Ability to collaborate effectively, listening deeply, and contributing to a team to achieve goals together

To Apply
If hired for this position, the annual salary range is between $70,000 - $110,000. The salary may vary depending on your experience level and skills.
