Essential Job Responsibilities
Ø Classroom Activity
o Assist teacher in Developing and utilizing creative curriculum plans, which reflect mandated elements and components, parental and cultural influences, and promote the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of Head Start children.
o Assist teacher in establishing weekly lesson plans that promote individual and group educational plans and include other Head start components.
o Assist teacher in ensuring that classroom all performance standards within the education component are met and carried out according to Head Start and The Children's Learning Center program philosophy, policies and procedures.
o Prepare classroom materials to support developmentally appropriate curriculum plans; create and change learning centers as requested by teacher.
o Follow a consistent schedule, which includes small and large group experiences, choice time, music and movement, large and small motor activities, skill development, meals, and effective transitions between activities. Ensure that all classroom activities are carried out on a daily basis.
o Assist teacher in encouraging experimentation, exploration, problem solving, cooperation, socialization, and choice making; ask open-ended questions and listen respectfully to the answers.
o Assist in monitoring environment (indoor/outdoor) for the activities of the day, taking steps to address deficiencies as they relate to designated teacher's capabilities.
o Observe and record behaviors of children and relay information to the teacher regarding the identification of each child's strengths and areas to grow.

o Help plan and conduct regular parent meetings with other staff members.
o Encourage parents to attend Parent Education and Community Involvement programs available through TCLC and other community agencies.
o Encourage parents to participate in curriculum planning and program development.
Ø Data, Monitoring, Recording and Tracking
o Observe, compare, and monitor behaviors, records and data to determine compliance with prescribed standards.
o At the direction of the teacher provide accurate written records, including assessments, IFSP documentation, screening instruments, anecdotal observations, and other required forms.
o Assist teacher where needed with various record keeping systems used for data tracking, outcomes and assessments.
o At direction of teacher, write memos to staff and parents.
o Support Family Service Coordinator in documentation regarding particular concerns with families and children at scheduled staffing's.
o Assist teacher in meeting all deadlines for the school and state.
General Staff Responsibilities
Ø Fulfill role as mandated reporter as stated in Child Abuse and Neglect Mandatory Reporting Policy.

The evaluation teacher leader position is designed to provide support and assistance toward meeting the performance plan goals at the assigned school. Restricted Licensed Substitute Teacher (Starting 2025-26 school year)
DESCRIPTION:
Restricted Licensed Substitutes are valued members of the HDESD Partner School Districts Community who play an integral role in supporting our students and schools every day.
Working as a Substitute with HDESD requires a high level of flexibility and adaptability, as Substitutes are eligible to work throughout the region in multiple districts, multiple schools, any subject, and any grade level.
The Restricted Substitute Teaching License is a license that permits a qualified individual to substitute teach in prekindergarten through grade 12 Oregon public school district, education service districts, and charter school assignments with the restriction that the individual must obtain and maintain district sponsorship.
The Restricted Substitute Teaching License is valid for substitute teaching in any Oregon prekindergarten through grade 12 assignments to replace a teacher who is temporarily unable to work.
Restricted Licensed Substitute Teachers:
Work a flexible schedule on an as-needed basis, and have the ability to assign themselves to jobs via the absence management online computer application system up to one month in advance.
Are responsible for providing instruction, managing the classroom environment, and facilitating student learning in the absence of the regular Educator.
Perform under the supervision of a building administrator or other designated supervisor, and have the responsibility to continue the instructional program according to the directions left by the absent Educator.
Function in accordance with all State policies, rules, and regulations, and in accordance with the performance standards of the District. Substitute Teachers can be placed in a variety of educational settings, classrooms and grade levels with variable hours (4 or 8 daily).
By becoming a Substitute with HDESD you commit to substituting in a minimum of ten (10) absences over the course of a year.
Substitute Educator Duties:
Implement and deliver instructions left by the absent Educator while ensuring the integrity of academic time.
Provide instruction, organization, and management in the classroom, which creates an environment conducive to learning.
Manage student behavior and maintain a safe learning environment in accordance with school, district, and state policies, procedures, and laws.
Model and instruct students appropriately in citizenship and interpersonal relationships and responsibilities.
Model educational equity for all students.
Confer with the school administration staff or designated supervisor concerning the completion of any reports that may be necessary including but not limited to student attendance and performance.
Confidentially communicate necessary information regularly to the absent Educator as well as students, colleagues, and caregivers regarding student progress and needs as needed.
Supervise classified employees who are assigned to assist the absent Educator, classroom, or designated students.
Display judgment that supports professional standards of conduct at all times.
Maintain regular and prompt personal attendance in assignments and daily schedules.
Comply with all applicable district, state, and federal policies, procedures, and regulations.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Restricted License Substitute Teacher Resume and Application noting degrees achieved and institutions and letter noting experience working with diverse student populations in an educational setting. Licensed Substitutes are valued members of the HDESD Partner School Districts Community who play an integral role in supporting our students and schools every day.
Working as a Substitute with HDESD requires a high level of flexibility and adaptability, as Substitutes are eligible to work throughout the region in multiple districts, multiple schools, any subject, and any grade level.
Licensed Substitute Teachers:
Work a flexible schedule on an as-needed basis, and have the ability to assign themselves to jobs via the absence management online computer application system up to one month in advance.
Are responsible for providing instruction, managing the classroom environment, and facilitating student learning in the absence of the regular Educator.
