PEF Summer 2026 runs from June 15 - July 16, 2026, Monday - Thursday. Successful RTI/Wellness Teacher candidates must be available for the entire program. Our program will be hosted at select PUSD school campuses (specific sites TBD).

Employment is dependent upon verification and timely completion, before the program starts, of all mandated payroll tax (W-4, DE4) and employment eligibility (I-9) forms, a background check, and other payroll onboarding tasks that may be assigned.
Teachers must commit to 5 working hours per day, Monday through Thursday mornings, for the entire 5-week program from June 15 to July 16, 2026. Exact times TBD.
This is a temporary, part-time position that does not include paid time off or benefits.
Specific responsibilities will vary based on the needs of each site, as assigned by the Site Coordinator and PEF Program Manager, but may include:
Push-in and pull-out support to facilitate classroom instruction and individual student well-being, such as by using a Response to Intervention (RTI) framework.
Assisting teachers, site coordinators, and other staff to identify and address student needs.
Supervising students during break periods.
Mentoring high school Summer Youth Leaders on site to support a successful service learning experience.
Communicating with parents or guardians to discuss individual student needs and behavior, as needed.
Counseling students through individual and/or small group meetings.
Hosting a wellness room for students to self-regulate their emotions.

APPOINTMENT DATE AND ACADEMIC CALENDAR
The need for part-time faculty is greatest in Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall term begins in the late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term runs from the middle of January through the end of May. On rare occasions part-time faculty are needed during one of the Summer Session segments.
PERFORMANCE EVALUATION
Regular performance evaluations of part-time lecturers are made by the department in accord with the faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and University Policy Statement 210.070. These performance evaluations determine which lecturers will be retained for future and continued teaching assignments. And in some instances, syllabi, assignments and reading material will be reviewed by the departmental personnel committee.
APPOINTMENT AND SALARY
All part-time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers, under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the California Faculty Association. Initial appointments are for one semester only.
Classification Range: $5,507 - $6,677 per month
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $6,221 per month
The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester. For a three-unit assignment, typical starting compensation ranges from $6,608.40 to $7,465.20 per semester.

Collaborate with Behavioral and Educational Support Specialists and multidisciplinary teams (therapists, nurses, administrators, caregivers, and classroom staff) to provide academic, behavioral, and therapeutic interventions for students.
Maintain and actively reinforce the schools reward program to promote and encourage positive student behavior.
Respond to student crises as needed, using de-escalation strategies and, when necessary, physical intervention as a last resort to ensure student safety.
Complete and document daily Medi-Cal progress notes to track services provided to youth, ensuring compliance with billing and electronic health record requirements.
Engage caregivers and students treatment team in discussions about student growth and education involvement.
Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive classroom that supports and reinforces the schools therapeutic program.

The need for part-time faculty is greatest in Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall term begins in the late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term runs from the middle of January through the end of May. On rare occasions part-time faculty are needed during one of the Summer Session segments.
PERFORMANCE EVALUATION
Regular performance evaluations of part-time lecturers are made by the department in accord with the faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and University Policy Statement 210.070. These performance evaluations determine which lecturers will be retained for future and continued teaching assignments. And in some instances, syllabi, assignments and reading material will be reviewed by the departmental personnel committee.
APPOINTMENT AND SALARY
All part-time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers, under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the California Faculty Association. Initial appointments are for one semester only.
Classification Range: $5,507 - $6,677 per month
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $6,221 per month
The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester. For a three-unit assignment, typical starting compensation ranges from $6,608.40 to $7,465.20 per semester.

Our 5-week morning program has 2 formats.
Younger students (TK - 2nd grade) will spend the entire morning program in one self-contained/intro classroom.
Older students (grades 2 and up) typically split their morning schedule into 3 blocks. Each block is a little over an hour long and has a different group of students. Most teachers teach the same class in each block.
This year, our program is for students in grades TK-8. We will no longer offer courses designed for high school students.

Teachers create lesson plans and teach those plans to the entire class, individually to students or in small groups, track student progress and present the information to parents, create tests, create and reinforce classroom rules, work with school administration prepare students for standardized tests, and manage students outside the classroom, such as in school hallways, detention, etc.
Monitor and takes responsibility for classified personnel and volunteers working with students. Promotes parental and community involvement & conducts parent conferences. Participates in all components and areas as specified by the Soboba Tribal performance standards. Under direct supervision of the Preschool Director, the Kindergarten Teacher will participate in the planning and operation of the Preschool Program.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Although other duties may be assigned, the essential duties include the following:
* Establish and maintain effective relationships with adults and children.

* Plan and organize to meet fixed schedules.

* Teach letter recognition, phonics, numbers, and awareness of nature and science in accordance with the California Common Core standards.
* Prepare, administer, and grade tests, listen to oral presentations, and maintain classroom discipline.
* Introduce children to mathematics, language, science, and social studies in accordance with the California Common Core standards.
* Use games, music, artwork, films, books, computers, and other tools to teach basic skills.
* Use play and hands-on teaching.
* Grade papers and perform other administrative duties as needed.
* Create projects designed to enhance lectures.
* Stay current on topics in education.
* Develop lesson plans.
* Utilize various curriculum resources.
* Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans.
* Utilize curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.
* Develop incentives to keep participants engaged in classroom activities.
* Develop professional relationships with other agencies and programs.
* Utilize public library resources.
* Work with program coordinators to ensure initiatives are being met.
* Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
* Prepare and distribute required reports.
* Observe and evaluate student's performance.
* Ability to communicate with parents and/or guardians regarding children's progress
EDUCATION
* Bachelor's Degree in Education required
* Teaching credential preferred
* First Aide Certification
EXPERIENCE
* 1-2 years' experience working with children in an educational setting
