Tutors will work at local elementary schools to provide tutoring services to early elementary children one on one.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct tutoring sessions in which each student is actively involved in exploring and learning the material.
Review course concepts, provide alternate explanations, and offer multiple strategies for reviewing and reinforcing information.
Help students to identify resources and to develop problem-solving strategies they can use when studying on their own.
Other related duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities
Collect and submit data to the LTPR at the end of the semester.
Attend mandatory training sessions and meetings.
Maintain literacy center inventory.
Participate in occasional recruiting events.
Minimum Requirements
Enrolled at least half-time, 6 credit hours per semester for undergraduate and 3 credit hours per semester for graduates.
Maintain a TAMIU overall GPA of 2.0 for undergraduate students and 3.0 for graduate students.

This is a non tenure-track Instructional Assistant Professor (9-month faculty position; 3-year appointment with the possibility of renewal based on annual evaluations and performance). Primary duties will include teaching 15 semester credit hours (the equivalent of five courses) per semester in various modalities including face-to-face and online undergraduate courses and online graduate courses. Duties also include mentoring students and providing service on departmental, college, university, and professional committees. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.

Required Qualifications
The successful candidate must hold a doctorate in Special Education or a related field. ABDs will also be considered but must have earned a doctorate before appointment. All specializations will be considered. We strongly encourage candidates with a strong record of working in the Special Education field in the public school setting, the ability to teach in areas that complement/strengthen our programs, hold State of Texas Special Education Teacher Certification and/or Educational Diagnostician Certification, preferred.
