This is a contracted in person student-facing position which will support spring programming related to ELSO's Consulting Services work and the Youth Climate Education Project through collaborative design and delivery of classroom activities and community engagement events at schools and sites across the Portland-Metro region.
This position supports ELSO's Workforce Development Programs, working under the Workforce Development Program Manager to co-develop workshops and activities, train and mentor camp guides and interns, and facilitate STEAMED workshops and experiences for youth ages 14-College. The Seasonal Educator will assist with college and high school recruitment efforts for interns and fellows, support program logistics, and contribute to program evaluations and debriefs. Assistant Position Summary:
The Assistant Teacher is responsible for participating as part of a cohesive teaching team, assisting the Lead Teacher in coordinating the curriculum, and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. Reports To: Building Principal
POSITION PURPOSE: A substitute teacher is responsible for providing instruction, managing the classroom environment, and promoting student learning in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. Work collaboratively with school staff in implementing and adapting instructional programs for the special educational needs of identified students.
QUALIFICATION: Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required
* Hold, or be able to secure TSPC Licensure required.
* An Oregon teaching license with an endorsement in any area
* Restricted Substitute Teaching License (District sponsorship is required for new applicants)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Follow all policies, rules and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.
* Remain in assigned classroom until all students have been dismissed for the day
* Assume responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in class and surrounding areas.
* Review with principal or designee, all plans, duties and schedules to be followed during the teaching day, teaches the outlined lesson, maintain as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom.
* Maintain confidentiality.
* Complete a daily report or evaluation to communicate any pertinent information resulting from the day's events.
* Report safety, sanitary and fire hazards immediately to supervisor.
* Comply with applicable District, state, local and federal laws, rules and regulations.
* Interact thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff and community.
* Perform other reasonably related duties that the Supervisor may assign.
