Position Purpose

Job Summary
The Special Education Paraprofessional primarily supports students with identified needs in areas that may include academics, functional skills, behavior, and/or physical assistance. Key Responsibilities
Under the direction of certified staff, responsibilities include:
Supporting academic, behavioral, and functional skill development in whole-class, small-group, and individual settings
Implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) with fidelity
Collecting and documenting student progress using evidence-based data collection methods
Supporting studentsin general education and inclusive environments
Providing supervision during arrival, dismissal, transitions, and other designated times
Participating in ongoing progress reviews, as appropriate
Supporting the use of assistive technology and instructional materials
Supporting non-violent crisis intervention strategies (CPI) when necessary

Position Summary:
The Teacher Assistant is responsible for assisting the Head Start Teacherin providing children ranging in ages from 3 to 5 years, with learning experiences that promote school readiness. This includes the creation and implementation of individualized lesson plans, development of meaningful relationships with children and families, and the design of safe, engaging environments.

Conduct Family Conferences and Home Visits
Maintain clean, safe, and engaging indoor and outdoor learning environments

Attend twice-monthly staff meetings, monthly Professional Development Days, quarterly All-Agency meetings, and annual Pre-Service
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this position successfully, an individual must demonstrate regular, predictable attendance and be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge and skill required. The individual must be able to successfully pass routine background checks.
Education/Certification/Licensure:
Proof of current enrollment in a Child Development Associate (CDA) Certificate program, OR enrollment in or completion of an Associate or Bachelor's degree program
Must have a valid Indiana driver's license and the ability to meet the minimum requirements of the insurance carrier at all times
Experience Required:
1-2 years previous experience preferred
Knowledge and Skills Required:
