The primary duty will be to coordinate the training, development, supervision, and support for EYCC's youth educational programs and facility operations. As a part of the FYCCN, the Education Specialist will communicate with stakeholders, constituents, and partners. They will also perform functions of this position with a strong understanding of FYCCN's mission, future goals, and practices. They will convey FYCCN's vision through effective programming, training, and outreach at the EYCC. SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE Experience working with children strongly preferred Basic understanding of childhood development and steps to support children of various ages Ability to effectively communicate with teachers and parents regarding student's progress and behavior Strong organizational skills are essential to aid in preparing materials for several daily lesson plans Personal accountability and patience are essential when working with children daily in a classroom environment Ability to prioritize activities quickly and support the teacher in instances that are exceptionally busy Basic writing, math, and science skills are necessary to assist in teaching students and answering their questions Ability to manage potentially challenging behavior from students and maintain a professional and patient demeanor Experience fostering positive relationships with children and adults in a learning environment Travel Some travel may be required for training and/or other business purposes. Working conditions Our offices, neighborhood clubhouses, and school-based clubs are fast-paced work environments and are strategically located in areas of St. Lucie County where youth need us most. Based on the organization's needs, flexibility to work different schedules and work in different locations in St. Lucie County is required due to changing business demands. General office conditions are the standard work environment (standing, sitting, and walking). PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling, stooping/kneeling, reaching with hands and arms, and finger dexterity. This position requires extended talking, listening, sitting, walking, and standing; computer viewing, and keyboard entry. Regularly lifting up to 25 pounds. Daily operation of a personal motor vehicles relevant to carrying out job duties is required for this position. Ability to think strategically and ability to sit for more than four hours per day.
