Classrooms are specifically designed to provide a warm, intimate, and secure environment for children to learn, explore, and develop at their own pace. We understand there are specific ways to arrange a room to support and encourage a child's exploration of the world. For instance, infant rooms have plenty of floor space to promote gross-motor development, while school-age children are provided with environments that encourage social interaction and individual exploration.
Registry and Continuing Education
Continuing Education:
Staff shall receive 15 hours if they are full time employees and 15 hours if they are part time employees, of continuing education each year in child growth and development, early childhood education, caring for children with disabilities, or first aid as approved by the department. This training may include attendance at training events, workshops, conferences, consultation with community resource people or observation of child-care programs. Up to 5 hours of independent reading or watching educational materials may be used to meet continuing education requirements. Documentation of completion of the continuation education shall be kept in the staff file at the center.
Every teacher shall maintain a current certificate of completion for a department-approved course in infant and child cardiopulmonary resuscitation including training in the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).

Duties
Lead Teacher
The lead teacher is responsible for creating a safe, secure, and nurturing environment for all children in their care. This individual will and must have a high school diploma or equivalent and must have completed the following classes:
· Introduction to the Childcare Profession
· Skills and Strategies for the Child Care Teacher
· Fundamentals of Infant and Toddler
· CPR AED and First Aid
· Child abuse and Neglect
The lead teacher needs to also be at least on a level 5 on the Registry.
Other duties include but not limited to be:
1. Creating lesson plans for an educational curriculum and implementing the lesson plan in the classroom daily.
2. Create and update children's portfolios regularly.
3. Complete checklist quarterly, complete evaluations and attend teacher parent conferences three times a year.
4. Assist in toilet training and/or diapering.
5. Cleaning classroom toy and shelves weekly.
6. Help the kid with properly washing their hands during mealtimes.
7. Change out parent board, birthday board and any other boards regularly.
Requirements
Reporting Requirements
The employee is required to notify the licensee as soon as possible, but no later than the next business day, when any of the following occur:
· The employee has been convicted of a crime.
· The employee has been or is being investigated by any governmental agency for any other act, offense, or omission, including an investigation related to the abuse or neglect or threat of abuse or neglect, to a child or other client, or an investigation related to misappropriation of a client's property.
· The employee has a substantiated governmental finding against them for abuse or neglect of a child or adult or for misappropriation of a client's property.
· A professional license held by the employee has been denied, revoked, restricted, or otherwise limited.
